Standardbred Canada (SC) is now accepting submissions for the 2026 Cam Fella Award.

Introduced in 1997 at the eighth O'Brien Awards celebration, the Cam Fella Award honours the kind of exceptional, meritorious service that Cam Fella himself provided to Canada’s harness racing industry. Fittingly, he was the first recipient.

The award is presented when warranted – not necessarily every year – to recognize recent, extraordinary service, effort and dedication to Canadian harness racing by an individual or group who, through their actions, demonstrate the qualities that made Cam Fella one of the sport’s greatest names.

The most recent recipient of the Cam Fella Award was Marvin Katz, who was recognized for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the sport through his work with the Breeders Crown Charity Challenge. Founded by Katz in 2019, the Charity Challenge marked its seventh year in 2025 and has become a cornerstone initiative of the Breeders Crown weekend. Designed to connect championship racing with meaningful community impact, the program has annually raised funds within the harness racing industry for charities in each host community. Since its inception through 2025, the Charity Challenge generated more than $2.4 million, a testament to Katz’s belief that the sport can — and should — make a difference beyond the racetrack. The 2025 Breeders Crown Charity Challenge marked the final year with Katz at the helm, as he passed leadership of the program to Greg Luther.
