Royalty Beer ruled the field from start to finish on the way to a three-length romp in the $14,500 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

He glided over to command on the first turn after a speedy start for Samuel Fillion and laid down the fractions of :28.1, :59.1 and 1:28.2, with the third split putting him ahead by two lengths and stalling the first-over P P E (Austin Sorrie). Under wraps down the lane, Royalty Beer strolled through the finish to complete the 1:57.2 tally with pocket-tripper Serenity Cruise (Dave Boughton) best of the rest. Hungry Hill (Scott Coulter) finished third.

Two-time Quebec champion Royalty Beer won for the 10th time in 28 seasonal starts for owners Ecuries Maguire Inc. of Sainte-Marie, Que. and Jean-Francois Maguire of Carlisle, Ont. The latter conditions the seven-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Beer Maggs, who is now 44-for-135 lifetime with $517,757 in earnings. He returned $2.10 to win.
