Trotters Do Battle In Maritime Breeders At Charlottetown
Five Home Hardware Maritime Breeders divisions headlined the 14-race program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Thursday, Oct. 15, with two- and three-year-old trotters in action.
The Mike McGuigan stable collected a pair of victories, winning with Stunning Speed and Hoponarocket.
Stunning Speed ($3.10) delivered the fastest stakes mile of the night in the second $15,150 two-year-old trotting colt division in the 12th race. Shoe Dog Speed (Paul Langille) led through a :29.3 first panel before McGuigan moved his trainee to the front approaching the half in 1:00.3. Stunning Speed then led through three-quarters in 1:30.3 and held off Shoe Dog Speed by three-quarters of a length in 2:00.3. Earl Speed (Jason Hughes) finished third.
