Lloyds Loves Wires Saratoga Open

Lloyds Loves

Lloyds Loves, a two-time Open winner at Saratoga Casino Hotel during the springtime, returned to the track on Sunday, Oct. 11 after two starts at Yonkers Raceway and went coast-to-coast to score in the matinee’s featured race, the $25,714 Fillies and Mares Winners Over/Open Handicap Pace.

Lloyds Loves made an easy lead and cruised unopposed through first-half splits of :28.2 and :58.3. Driver Jimmy Devaux, who was inducted last month into the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame, went pedal to the metal with the six-year-old distaff to three-quarters in 1:26.2, and Lloyds Loves completed the wire-to-wire score in 1:54.2. Racy Roxy A (Jay Randall) got the pocket trip behind the winner and wound up as the runner-up by 1-3/4 lengths while the favoured Whilemena Rita A (Brett Beckwith) shook loose late to finish third.

For Lloyds Loves, the win was number seven on the season in 23 starts for owner David Dobbelmann. Edwin Quevedo trains the six-year-old Rustys All In-Southwind Wichita mare, who is 40-for-123 lifetime. The win price was $7.64.

Gary Levine sent out three winners on the 14-race program. The conditioner won with No Drama Please ($2.38), Stylish Stella ($18.54) and Miki The Clown ($5.76). He is third in the Saratoga standings and 92-for-616 overall on the year.

Devaux piloted all three of Levine's winners in addition to Lloyds Loves.

Live racing continues on Monday at Saratoga with a matinee that kicks off at noon.
