P C Peterbilt Wins Flamboro Preferred; 50 For No Plan Intended
P C Peterbilt used live cover to attain his first career Preferred-class victory in the card-opening $14,500 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Sixth through the :29 opening quarter for Brady Galliers, P C Peterbilt entered the outer tier turning towards the stands and fished out longshot No Angel Like Me (Todd Ratchford) nearing a :58.2 half. He took the tow all the way down the backstretch, up to third by three-quarters in 1:27, then angled out on the far turn and picked off No Angel Like Me In the stretch to score in 1:57. No Angel Like Me was a game second by a length, followed by Mercutio (Austin Sorrie).
P C Peterbilt has won back-to-back starts for owner-trainer Melissa Loyer and is now four-for-18 on the season. The six-year-old son of My Mvp- P C Cantore has amassed 11 victories and $95,596 in earnings from 47 career starts. He paid $8.60 to win.
Eight-year-old pacing gelding No Plan Intended added a 14th victory to his outstanding campaign and with it reached the 50-career-win milestone as he won the fifth-race claimer. After leaving from post five, the 1-5 choice relented to inside starter Flying Art A (Jimmy Gagnon) and dropped into the pocket for :27.2, :57.1 and 1:27 fractions. Jason Ryan slid him into the two-path as first-over Keystone Dakota (Galliers) and three-high Crunch Hanover (Paul MacKenzie) stacked up beside the leader on the last turn, then launched him to the outside of those spinning for home. Despite the significant ground lost by the wide switch, No Plan Intended rocketed home and reached past a tough Keystone Dakota to win by a half-length in 1:57. Flying Art A was also resilient in holding third.
No Plan Intended, winner of the 2022 Governor’s Plate and runner-up in that year’s Gold Cup and Saucer, won his 50th race in his 133rd start. Owned and trained by Terry Gallant, the son of Up The Credit-Warrawee Star has made the majority of his 31 starts this season in the claiming ranks. He has now earned $396,352 lifetime. The win price was $2.40.
