Ubiquitous A Commanding Winner In Mohawk Feature
Ubiquitous steadily marched to the front on the first turn, then eased home after being handed a loose lead to win the $25,000 conditioned feature trot for two-year-olds on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Away from post six, Ubiquitous reached past Kirwin (Louis-Philippe Roy) to strike the top passing the quarter in :28.4. He led uncontested through :58.4 and 1:28 middle panels and entered the stretch with a sizable cushion after Kirwin broke stride on the last turn. Bob McClure kept his charge trotting strongly to the wire, and Ubiquitous crossed the line ahead by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:56.1. Whoopdedoo Hanover (James MacDonald) inherited second coming into the stretch and finished in that position, with Erinwood Triton (Travis Henry) third.
Ubiquitous equalled his initial mark, taken on Sept. 17, and is now two-for-four with $27,260 in earnings. Shawn Steacy trains the gelded son of Walner-Cantab It All for Mark Steacy of Lansdowne, Ont., Dale Larson of Kent City, Mich., Bertrand Gilhespy Stable of Lake Country, B.C. and Stephen Downey of Quispamsis, N.B. He paid $2.50 to win.
