Alex MacPhee Passes
Alexander 'Alex' Murchieson MacPhee of Clyde River, P.E.I. passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sept. 27, 2026, at the age 90.
Alex was the devoted husband of Audrey (née Frizzell), with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, hard work and countless memories.
He was a loving father to Brian (Tracey), Ricky (Agnes) and Kent (Michelle), and was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Brenda Stahr (Jim), and daughter-in-law Isabel. He was the proud grandfather of Taunya Madden (Mike), Steven Stahr, Ambyr Campbell (Brent), Alicia Odom (Bryan), Brodie, Emily White (Kuri), Connor and Sophie, and will be lovingly remembered by his many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Alex is survived by his sister, Heather Dixon, and sisters-in-law Muriel Campbell and Heather MacDonald. He was predeceased by his parents, Richie and Clara MacPhee; parents-in-law Elmer and Vi Frizzell; sister Drucilla Ward; brothers Angus and Wayne; and brother-in-law Gage Dixon.
Alex took great pride in opening the Bonnie Brae restaurant in 1969, an accomplishment that remained a special part of his life. He loved people and especially enjoyed having visitors drop by the house. His door was always open and he was happiest surrounded by family, friends, conversation and laughter.
Alex was known for his generous heart and never hesitated to help those who were less fortunate. His kindness and generosity touched many people throughout his life.
His greatest passion was horses. Alex loved driving horses and enjoyed many years involved in harness racing. He drove his last race in 2009, but his love of the sport never left him. Right up until the week before his passing, he could still be found at the Charlottetown Driving Park, enjoying the races and wagering with friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sterling Keizer, Dr. Jocelyn Peterson, Dr. Aimee MacKenzie and the staff of Unit 8 for the compassionate care they provided to Alex during his final hours.
Alex leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family and community who will miss his welcoming nature, generosity and love of a good visit.
A funeral service has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Churchill Cemetery Fund or Pat And The Elephant.
