Rookie Pacing Fillies Battle In DSBF At Harrington
The second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) action for two-year-old filly pacers headlined the Tuesday, Oct. 6 program at Harrington Raceway as three $28,571 divisions were contested.
Unberdnbywhathsben ($2.40) was victorious in the first division in 1:58.2 by 4-1/4 lengths over Wonderful Tonight (Barton Dalious), with Miss Mam (Cody Poliseno) third. The Hes Watching-Bleach Goddess filly notched her first career win in six starts for trainer Ron Burke. Jason Thompson put the filly on the front end in the five-horse field early, and she pulled away in the stretch to score for Burke Racing Stable LLC, Knox Services Inc. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Cruising Mist ($4.40) won the second division in 1:58.2 for driver Allan Davis, trainer Wayne Givens and owner Legacy Racing of Delaware Inc. The Powerful Mist-Image Cruisingaway filly won her second straight race, completing a sweep of her eliminations and moving to two-for-six lifetime. She took a length victory over pacesetter Rynesha (Ryder Skinner), with Jobs Not Finished (Thompson) completing the top three.
The final division went to heavily favoured Salty Beaches ($2.60), who prevailed for a third straight start in 1:57.2 for driver Allan Davis and owner/trainer Tyler Davis, winning by 1-1/2 lengths over Land Of The Free (Brandon Givens). Aunt Agnes (Montrell Teague) finished third. The winning Badlands Hanover-Emori Hanover filly improved to three-for-five lifetime.
Davis snagged two wins in DSBF action and four total on the 15-race card. The meet’s leading driver, Brandon Givens, had a triple.
The top eight point earners from the two elimination legs will return to compete in the $110,000 USD final on Oct. 13. The Oct. 12-14 week of racing will feature all of the DSBF finals and consolation events for two-year-olds.
In the $32,143 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace, Jett Propelled ($6) resumed her reign over the distaff mares with a 1:53.3 triumph for owner/trainer Robert Shahan and driver Jason Thompson. The five-year-old Roddys Bags Again-Jett Away mare surged through the stretch to grab her 12th seasonal win in 32 starts, beating Almost Persuaded (Russell Foster) by a half-length. Remy Brown N (Brandon Givens) finished third.
DSBF trotters will be featured on Wednesday's program with five divisions. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
