Miss Dutton Headlines Tuesday At Charlottetown

Harness Racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

After taking on some of the toughest pacing mares in the region, Miss Dutton will look to turn a class drop into a trip to the winner’s circle Tuesday (Oct. 6) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 13-dash program scheduled for a 6 p.m. opening post time, with Miss Dutton favoured in the $4,850 race 12 filly and mare feature.

Ryan Desroche will guide the Chris Mackay trainee from post six for owner Shoulda Been Onabeach Stable of Charlottetown, P.E.I. The five-year-old daughter of Rollwithitharry is the 5-2 morning-line favourite after finishing third to Trumps Girl and Windemere Saddy in last Thursday’s $6,050 Preferred event. Miss Dutton paced her own mile in 1:53.4 that night, closing in 28.2.

My Happy Place has the rail and is the 3-1 second choice with Gilles Barrieau driving for trainer Ronnie Matheson and owners Patrick Morris and Jodi Lynn Matheson of Charlottetown, P.E.I. The Shadow Play mare was second to Starship Laska in her latest outing after doing much of the work on the front end.

Sweet Molly is the 7-2 third choice from post four with Ken Murphy in the bike for trainer Mike Ramsay and owners Clair Murphy, Derrill Murphy and Cindy MacLean.

The field also includes Dee (Driven by Jason Hughes), Bayonetta (Marc Campbell), Starship Laska (Adam Merner) and Promise Me Later (Paul Langille).

Bayonetta comes into the contest fresh from a 1:55.2 victory in the $27,200 Lady Slipper Gold division Sept. 27 at Summerside. Landon Campbell trains the three-year-old Cattlewash filly for 9267 7327 Quebec Inc., of Mont-Joli, Que. Starship Laska was a 1:55.3 winner last Thursday for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms of Springvale and Kyle Williams of Coleman.

The $5,000 race nine trot has Rina Labelle as the 5-2 morning-line favourite from post six with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Noreen Stymest of Debert, N.S. The three-year-old Greenshoe filly returns to conditioned company after facing Fight Song, West River Jet and Buckhead Ridge in the Open Trot last Thursday.

Desert Hayz is the 3-1 second choice from post 3 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Joe Baxter while Whole Nother has post 5 with Colin Sheppard driving for trainer Morgan Sheppard.
