Bee Two Bee Faces Streaking Rivals In Summerside Feature

Bee Two Bee

Bee Two Bee returns to Prince County on Monday (Oct. 5) evening to face a pair of streaking rivals in the featured pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The western oval has 15 races scheduled for a 6 p.m. opening post time, with the $6,600 feature lining up in race 14.

Jason Hughes will drive Bee Two Bee from post four for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Donald MacRae and Blair MacLauchlan of P.E.I. The nine-year-old son of Sunshine Beach is the 5-2 morning-line favourite with five wins from 16 starts this season and lifetime earnings of $582,884.

Bee Two Bee last raced in the $10,000 Richard Campbell Memorial on Sept. 12 in Charlottetown, finishing fourth, just over two lengths behind Mappos Lion. His summer victories include a 1:51.4 score on Aug. 15 and a front-end win in the $10,000 Premier’s Pace on Gold Cup and Saucer night.

The Post Time Picks put Bee Two Bee on top and name him the program’s Most Probable winner.

“Bee Two Bee has been taking on some of the toughest pacers on the Island and gets a favourable spot to work from tonight. Air Force Hanover and Freemans Legacy bring winning streaks into this matchup, but this veteran has the speed and class to handle the challenge. I’m betting Hughes puts him in the thick of things early and gets him back to the winner’s circle.”

Air Force Hanover will look to extend his winning streak to four from post three with Gilles Barrieau in the bike for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Woodmere Farms of Marshfield. The 10-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere won his last two Charlottetown outings in identical 1:53.4 miles before capturing his latest Summerside start in 1:55.1.

Freemans Legacy has the inside advantage over those two rivals from post two for trainer-driver Jaycob Sweet and owner Mackenzie Arsenault of Alberton. The five-year-old Pang Shui gelding has won seven of his 19 starts this year and comes off consecutive Summerside victories in 1:55.2 and 1:55.3. He is the 3-1 second choice.

Doc Awesome is another last-start winner in the field, drawing post five with Landon Campbell driving for trainer Darla MacEachern. Owned by MacEachern, Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron of Summerside, the All Bets Off gelding rallied to win the Sept. 30 feature in 1:55.1. He is the 7-2 third choice.

T H Boomtown completes the field from the rail with Corey MacPherson driving the Matheson trainee for owners Dr. Don Ling and Wayne MacDougall of Stratford.

The Post Time Picks feature ticket is Bee Two Bee, Air Force Hanover and Freemans Legacy.

Fans can enjoy on track service at West End Bar & Grill. The Oval, overlooking the racetrack, is closed to host a private function.
