DM Kamille Caps Off Five-Win Day For Auger

DM Kamille winning at Hippodrome 3R

Driver Marie-Claude Auger capped off a five-win day at Hippodrome 3R with DM Kamille winning a $40,000 companion trotting race to the Lucien Bombardier Pace for two-year-old fillies on Sunday, Oct. 4.

With Auger picking up the catch-drive, DM Kamille defeated entrymate DM Melodie and Francis Picard in a 1-2 finish for trainer Daniel Martin in the afternoon's co-feature for Quebec-bred or Quebec-owned two-year-old trotting fillies.

Kinder Trouble and driver Denis St. Pierre finished third after setting fractions of :30.2, 1:01 and 1:31.3.

DM Melodie and DM Kamille followed the tempo-setter in second and third before closing in past the third quarter pole. DM Melodie popped the pocket and took a short lead at the top of the stretch and was joined by DM Kamille to her outside before the latter filly sprinted ahead late to the 1-3/4-length victory in a career-best 2:02.2. She paid $8.10 to win as part of the 3-1 second choice entry.

DM Kamille, a daughter of Muscle Mass out of Profound Wisdom, has won half of her first six starts with earnings just shy of $30,000 for owners Groupe DM Kamille of St. Barnabe Nord, Que., and Claude Hamel of Orford, Que.

The $40,000 Lucien Bombardier Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies followed with the Yves Tessier-trained GA Speed Jewel and driver Jocelyn Gendron springing a 17-1 upset in 1:59.3.

GA Speed Gaby closed off the cover of TH Moment Of Truce, driven by Denis St. Pierre, and defeated that filly by a neck on the line. TH Moment Of Truce was placed seventh for causing interference to multiple horses in the stretch, resulting in Allstar Betternblk and Nick Boyd, part of the 9-5 favoured entry, being elevated from third to second after a front-end trip through fractions of :27.3, :59.2 and 1:29.3. Ruby Red and Francis Picard inherited third.

A daughter of Shadow Play and Redwalls, GA Speed Jewel recorded her fourth win in 13 starts and now has more than $26,500 in earnings for owner Alain Carrier of St-Henri-De-Levis, Que.

The win payout for horseplayers who backed GA Speed Jewel at the betting windows was $37.90.

Auger engineered the biggest upset of the 11-race card, scoring with the Guy Morin-trained maiden-breaking freshman pacing filly Baie Joile ($90.90), who defeated veteran pacers in 1:57.4. Roland Trudel shares ownership of the homebred Control The Moment-Restless Hanover filly, just a three-time starter, with Marcel Morrissette. Auger also delivered a successful steer for another Trudel homebred as the two-year-old Control The Moment-Pop Goes Theweasel filly My Popsicle lowered her mark to 1:56.3 in her third victory under the tutelage of trainer Jean Tourigny.

Auger drove Drill Bit Penny ($5.50) in a nine-length romp with the sophomore pacing filly taking a new mark of 1:56.3 in her debut from the Dany Mainguy stable. She also won with seven-year-old pacing gelding Military Man ($5.30) in 1:58.2 for trainer Karol Ann Malo Tetreault.

Auger boosted her 3R meet win total to 35 and jumped to second in the track's driver standings behind Pascal Berube, who leads with 79 victories. The Trois-Rivieres, Que. horsewoman, who posted a career-high 127 driving wins in 2025, has won 813 races lifetime and has trained winners of 284 races.
