Trumps Girl charged off a golden trip to capture the $6,050 Fillies and Mares Preferred 1 Pace on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Marc Campbell, a four-time winner on the card, sat second with Trumps Girl ($7.80) in the feature as Windemere Saddy (Ken Murphy) cut fractions of :27, :56.2 and 1:24.4. The Mike McGuigan-trained Trumps Girl battled past the leader in the stretch to win by half a length in 1:53.1. Windemere Saddy was second, with Miss Dutton (Ryan Desroche) third.

Trumps Girl, a five-year-old daughter of Always B Miki-Wind Damage Blues, is owned by Tommy Collings of Mount Stewart, P.E.I. She upped her seasonal tally to seven wins from 26 starts and is now 16-for-84 lifetime with $179,404 in earnings.

Fight Song ($4.50) was dominant in the $6,050 Open Trot in Race 10 for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. The seven-year-old son of Kadabra-Fortunes Of Fables controlled the fractions of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:26.1 before closing out the mile in 1:54.4. West River Jet (Kenny Arsenault) out-duelled Buckhead Ridge (Marc Campbell) down the lane for second, 1-3/4 lengths behind the winner. 

Fight Song, who has now won four of his last five starts against the Island's top trotters, is six-for-16 this year owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. Thursday's win was his 39th lifetime from 147 appearances, raising his bankroll to $283,098.

Campbell’s other victories came with Starship Laska ($4), Woodmere Kennedie ($4.40) and Hosskat ($19.70). Starship Laska stopped the clock in 1:55.3 in the fourth race for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Kyle Williams of Coleman. P.E.I. Woodmere Kennedie was a 1:56.2 winner in Race 11 for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Mike Pollard of Stratford, P.E.I. Hosskat closed out the 13-dash program in 1:54.4 for Campbell, trainer Lenny Myers and owners Matthew and Liam Myers of Stratford.

Trainer Mike Ramsay doubled up on the program with Nevaeh Divine ($5.70) and Youre So Sweet ($2.20), both driven by Ken Murphy. Nevaeh Divine captured the fifth race in 1:58 for owner Walter Deagle of Inverness, N.S., while Youre So Sweet went all the way in the eighth in 1:55.4 for owners Max Webster Stable of Inverness and Ryan McLaughlin of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Watts also recorded a training double on the card with Starship Laska and Quiet Hour ($3.70). Quiet Hour won the second race in 2:03 with Paul Langille in the bike for owners Windemere Farms, Mike Currie of Cardigan, P.E.I. and Jerry MacKinnon of St. Peters Bay, P.E.I.

Live racing continues on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with the first day of the Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend Of Champions, presented by the Prince Edward Island Standardbred Horse Owners Association.
