Blazing Tui set a new track record for two-year-old trotting geldings at Harrington Raceway with a 1:57.4 effort in his $28,571 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) prelim on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Yankee Royalty-Tui gelding improved to three-for-three lifetime with a front-end, 3-3/4-length romp over Youcancallmeroy (Roger Plante Jr.), with Lebanon Levii (Eddie Dennis) third. Two-year-old trotting filly Vamoose ($3.20) equalled her own 1:59.1 track record in the first $28,571 distaff division. Eddie Dennis put her on top from post seven past the quarter in :30, and she controlled the tempo through 1:00.2 and 1:30.2 panels on the way to a 3-1/4-length victory over Franchesca (Russell Foster). Leap Year (Jason Thompson) was third.

Owned by Rodney Wyatt, E&K Stable Inc. and Kevin Peck, Vamoose is now three-for-three for Dennis, who trains the daughter of Anders Bluestone-Furiette.

In the next filly division, Daringly ($2.10, Callahan) was a 1:59.4 winner by 3-3/4 lengths over Dassie (Russell Foster), with She Is Unstoppable (Allan Davis) third. In the second male division, Mike and Linda English’s Mike Franks ($3, Ross Wolfenden) scored in 2:00.3, beating Amish Outlaw (Eddie Dennis) by 1-3/4 lengths with Italian Royalty (Justin Vincent) third. Trained by John Wilkerson, the winning Southwind Frank-Hearditinaluvsong gelding took his second victory in five tries.

The final male division went to Platinum Ice ($3.40, Troy Beyer) in 2:01 over Cirocco (Jason Thompson), who was second by three-quarters of a length, followed by Frosty Frank (Allan Davis). The E L Platinum-Cool Cates gelding broke his maiden in his third start for trainer Besim Odza and owner Sonja Booth.

The top eight point earners from two rounds of eliminations return for $110,000 USD finals on Oct. 14.

In the overnight feature, the $32,143 Open Handicap Trot, 14-1 longshot Somebody Special (Allan Davis) led the field through fractions of :28.2, :57.3 and 1:25.4 before pocket-sitter That Ole Bar Stool ($16.60, Art Stafford Jr.) shook loose down the passing lane for a 1:55 win. Speed Away (Callahan) closed late for second, off by a neck, while Somebody Special was third.

Trained by Bobby Clark, That Ole Bar Stool took his fifth win of the year in 26 outings for owner Tina Clark. The seven-year-old Bar Hopping-I Gotta Feelin gelding is 26-for-122 lifetime.
