Ervin Hanover took top billing of a trio of Dave Menary-trained winners on the Mohawk Million undercard at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Sept. 26 as the gelding captured the $75,000 Free For All Pace in 1:47.1.

In line to Dexter Dunn, Canada’s fastest-ever pacer waited in fourth behind an early scrum to the :25.4 quarter, then shifted out to follow the parked-and-pressing Prince Hal Hanover (Todd McCarthy) onto the backstretch. Once that rival cleared, Ervin Hanover glided on to the engine by the half in :52.4 and remained in gear to three-quarters in 1:20 with no threat to the outside. Prince Hal Hanover offered little menace in the stretch as Ervin Hanover unleashed a :27.1 kicker to prevail by 1-3/4 lengths over rallying stablemate Sugar Man (James MacDonald). Prince Hal Hanover finished third.

Ervin Hanover has won all four of his starts at the top overnight level at Mohawk this season for owner Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa. and is six-for-nine overall. The six-year-old son of Captaintreacherous-Eloquent Grace, the Older Pacing Horse of the Year on both sides of the border last season, is now 32-for-84 lifetime with $1,962,524 in earnings. He paid $3 to win.

Two recent transfers from the U.S. from the Pollack Racing LLC flock made up the other two-thirds of the Menary triple. The trainer won the second race with Jk Black Gold ($10.80), who is now three-for-five since shipping north, and Shadow Of An Angel ($4.50), who has won both of his starts since returning to Canada. Menary, coming off a career year of 118 wins and $3.56 million in earnings, has 103 and $2.9 million in those respective categories with more than three months to go in 2026.
