Mappos Lion will try to add to his remarkable season in the $10,000 P.E.I. Free For All Series event during a stakes-filled card on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has 16 dashes scheduled for a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time, with the Free-For-All closing the card in race 16.

Mappos Lion leaves from post three with Ryan Desroche driving for trainer Taylor Doyle and owners Hailee Currie of Rocky Point, P.E.I. and Carol Campbell of Baddeck, N.S. The nine-year-old has won 13 of 16 starts this season, including a Sept. 12 victory at Charlottetown when he closed in :27.4.

The Post Time Picks select Mappos Lion as their value play over Ammo (To be driven by Marc Campbell) and Miki Shan N (Corey MacPherson).

“Have a peek at the line two down where Mappos Lion was a winner and closed in a snappy 27.4. He gets a prime time post to work from tonight and Desroche has had success with him in the past so keep that in mind when placing your wagers.”

Ammo is the 5-2 morning-line favourite from the rail for trainer Ronald Matheson and P.E.I.-based owners Patrick Morris and Woodmere Farms. Miki Shan N is the 3-1 second choice from post seven after winning his last two starts for trainer Chris MacKay. MacGregor Memorial winner Arbitrage Hanover (Ken Murphy) also joins the field from post five.

An undefeated Woodmere Rock It headlines the $31,600 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold division for two-year-old pacing colts in race 15. The Tobago Cays gelding has won all eight of his starts and leaves from post six with Gilles Barrieau driving for trainer Jamie Smith and owner Thestable Woodmererock It of Guelph, Ont. The 5-2 morning-line favourite is also the Post Time Picks’ most probable winner of the day. Southdale Jeff (Adam Merner) is the 3-1 second choice from post 5, while Malicious Benny (Campbell) has the rail.

The other Gold event is the $35,200 Lady Slipper Stake for two-year-old pacing fillies in race 13. Sheeowtime Speed is the 5-2 morning-line favourite from post four with Campbell driving for trainer Earl Watts and Island owners Windemere Farms and Matt and David Burke. She has won her last three races. Starship Daisy (Paul Langille) brings five wins from eight starts into the race from post two, while Woodmere Twigs (Merner) seeks a third straight victory from post five.
