Speed Away scored his fourth win in his last sixth starts with a 1:56.1 victory in the $31,690 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Harrington Raceway.

Baby Bob (Ross Wolfenden) took the lead past a :28.2 quarter from post four and cruised through fractions of :58 and 1:26.4 with Speed Away sitting fourth for Corey Callahan. The pacesetter opened up a three-length lead at the top of the stretch that would quickly diminish late as a hard-charging Speed Away nailed him by a head at the wire. Arrowhead Hanover (Troy Beyer) completed the top three.

Speed Away, an eight-year-old Father Patrick-All The Time gelding, notched his ninth win of the year in 24 outings for trainer Nick Callahan and owners Breakaway Racing and Yorwollahan Racing Team. The former Harrington Horse of the Meet has won 21 races over the half-mile racetrack in his career. He has amassed $775,648 in lifetime earnings and won 33 of 123 starts. The win price was $5.40.

Dreamville Stable’s Dyladmar ($2.60) was a 1:57.1 winner in the $25,352 Open 2 Handicap Trot for trainer Jay Gannon and driver Russell Foster.

Trainer Chuck Crissman Jr. had a triple on the 13-race program. He sent out a pair of winners — Snow Queen Hanover ($2.60) and Sevecheetah ($8.20) — for owner Barbara Boese, along with Jack N Abs ($2.80) for Sartin Racing LLC. Crissman now has 115 wins on the season from 562 starts.

The feature win for Callahan was part of a triple. Driver Brandon Givens also won three races.

The Sept. 28-30 week of racing at Harrington will be headlined by the first leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund action for two-year-olds, featuring $20,000 USD divisions nightly. The top eight point earners from each division will return to compete in the $110,000 USD finals on Oct. 12-14.
