Wickedpace took the $6,600 Preferred 3 Handicap Pace in her first career appearance at Hiawatha Horse Park, and Livingitlarge tallied his first win at the track this season in the $6,600 Preferred 3 Handicap Trot on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Wickedpace backed down into third to allow inside starter Ys Delight (Nick Steward) and Yoda Queen (Andy Moore) to decide leadership, which the latter claimed in a :27 first quarter. Wickedpace was shuffled to fifth as Scratchin An Itch (Lorne House) surged out of fourth to take point past a :57.2 half and Sportsline (Natasha Day) started a more measured climb out of fifth. Garrett Rooney brought the Wickedpace onto the cover of Sportsline to advance through an all-out third panel to three-quarters in 1:24.2. Wickedpace swung out as the field turned to the stretch, and she sprinted down the centre of the track to prevail by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.3 over Ys Delight. Sportsline finished third.

Wickedpace, trained by Paul Cameron, has won back-to-back starts and is now four-for-17 this year. The 2024 Battle of the Belles winner has earned $539,737 and won eight of 39 career outings. Cameron shares ownership in the four-year-old daughter of Mcwicked-My Little Art with Jayme Cameron of Guelph, Ont. and Arnolds Horse Shack of Mississauga, Ont. The win price was $2.90.

Livingitlarge charged to victory from a pocket trip for trainer-driver Lorne House. The five-year-old Wheeling N Dealin-Prime Time gelding sat behind Monteverdi (Nick Steward) through actionless early panels of :28 and :58.3, then watched as Siesta Sandman (Dennis Duford) teed off first-up on the leader to three-quarters in 1:27.1. As Siesta Sandman drifted out coming off the final turn, Livingitlarge took the two path and out-sprinted his two rivals by three-quarters of a length for the 1:56.3 victory. Monteverdi finished second over Siesta Sandman.

House co-owns the winner with breeder Chantal Ruijs of Georgian Bluffs, Ont. Livingitlarge racked up his fifth win in 27 starts this season and upped his career totals to 12 victories and $145,086 in earnings in 97 appearances. He paid $4.40 to win.
