Sensational sophomore pacing filly Windemere Skye tacked on two more victories and a track record to her perfect resume as the Earl Watts trainee dominated her elimination heat and the final of The Maritimer at Woodstock Connell Park on Friday, Sept. 18, extending her win streak to 22.

After easily winning an $8,440 elimination heat in 1:57.2, Windemere Skye returned four races later and matched the divisional track record of 1:55.2 in the $11,700 stakes final.

The final included the top four fillies from a pair of eliminations held earlier on the program with the winners drawing the inside posts.

Leaving from post two, Windemere Skye and driver Marc Campbell quickly crossed in front of fellow heat winner Bayonetta with a parked-out Beach Jewels taking back to fourth behind Lila Berry. The unbeaten filly cruised uncontested through fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:27.3 before accelerating home in :27.4 to a three-length triumph. Bayonetta chased in second with Fern Hill Kream finishing third more than 10 lengths behind.

Windemere Skye equalled the track record for three-year-old pacing fillies that was set by Miss Dutton in the Dawn & Dr. Ted Bremner Memorial Stakes on Sept. 28, 2024.

Owned by breeder Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I., and partner Matt Burke of Stratford, P.E.I., the Somewhere Fancy-Howmac Missy filly has earned 10 of her wins this year. She surpassed the $200,000 mark in career earnings in her elimination heat.

Windemere Skye was the overwhelming 1-9 favourite in both of her races on Friday.

She proved to be a sure bet in her elimination and confidently led four triple-digit longshot rivals through panels of :29.3, :59.2 and 1:28.3 with a :28.2 final kicker to expand her winning margin to 6-1/2 lengths. Lila Berry (Darren Crowe) won the race for place over Rose Knows Money (Brodie MacPhee), with Saulsbrook Desi (Heath Campbell) fourth. Stormys Hush Money (Wayne Watson) was eliminated in fifth.

Marc Campbell also won the first elimination driving Bayonetta, who circled her three foes and battled past slight favourite Beach Jewels (Colin Decourcey) on the front at the end of a two-minute mile. Blood Magic (Heath Campbell) finished back in third ahead of Fern Hill Kream (Brodie MacPhee). Campbell's son Landon trains the Cattlewash-White Satin filly and took the reins for the final.

Friday's card also featured the $3,000 Rod Goguen Memorial Handicap Pace, with the favoured defending champion Nuttin But Finesse and driver Michael Downey prevailing off a pocket trip in 1:55.1 by three lengths over Party Place (Heath Campbell) and Storm Shadow (Mitchell Downey), as pacesetter Whats Inthe Esky A (Colin Decourcey) faded to fourth. Both Nuttin But Finesse and Storm Shadow are trained by Ellen Stevenson and owned by Mitchell Downey.

Papa Clare and Colin Decourcey won the $2,000 Winners Over Pace in wire-to-wire fashion for trainer Robert Kitchen and local owner Robert Wilson, stopping the clock in 1:58.1 with a 2-1/2-length advantage on runner-up Therealprincess (Mitchell Downey).
