Miki Shan N Favoured In Charlottetown Preferred
After returning to the winner’s circle against Invitational company, Miki Shan N will look to keep rolling on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 12-dash presentation beginning at 6 p.m. (ADT), with the featured $6,900 Preferred Handicap Pace lining up in race 11.
Miki Shan N has the outside post in the compact field of five with Jason Hughes picking up the driving assignment for trainer Chris MacKay. Kap Singh Racing Stable, Stephen Klunowski, Earl Hill Jr. and Donald MacRae share ownership of the seven-year-old son of Always B Miki-Yankee Dream. The 5-2 morning line favourite comes off a front-end victory in a $10,000 Richard Campbell Memorial Invitational division on Sept. 12, when he stopped the clock in 1:52 over Ammo and Nuttin But Finesse. That performance gave Miki Shan N his fifth victory of the season and pushed his seasonal earnings to $68,827.
Get Wings will leave alongside from post four with Paul Langille in the seat for trainer Vaughan Doyle and owners Gary Ford and Janet Kinney. The four-year-old son of Bettors Wish-The Captains Angel has banked $154,097 this season with 10 victories, including the Governor’s Plate at Red Shores Summerside. Listed at 3-1, Get Wings was third in his Richard Campbell Memorial division last Saturday after setting the fractions, with Mappos Lion winning that contest over Twin B Tuffenuff.
Papis Rocket has rail control and a 7-2 morning line assessment with Ken Murphy handling the driving duties. Mike Ramsay trains for owners Derrill Murphy, Max Webster Stable, Jennifer Ritchie and Ryan MacLeod. The four-year-old son of Papi Rob Hanover-Real Touch will look to improve on a fifth-place finish behind Miki Shan N in his latest appearance.
Fast Louie will leave from post two with Brady Sweet driving for trainer Ramsay and owners Max Webster Stable and Ryan McLaughlin. Blood Money completes the field from post three with Kenny Arsenault driving the Ronald Matheson trainee for owner Dr. Mitchell Downey. Blood Money enters off a 1:53 victory last Sunday at Charlottetown.
The "Classifiers Choices" favours Miki Shan N over Get Wings and Papis Rocket, while Peter MacPhee’s "Post Time Picks" place Miki Shan N ahead of Papis Rocket and Get Wings.
Earlier on the program, Much More Malice gets top billing as the Post Time Picks' most probable winner in race three. The two-year-old Malicious colt will leave from post two with Langille driving for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reginald MacPherson. Much More Malice has finished second five times in eight career starts while earning $22,757. He faces an opportunity to secure his first victory after competing against the region’s leading rookie pacing colts, including a fourth-place finish timed in 1:56 in Atlantic Sires Stakes action last Saturday.
The $4,950 finale has Malignity selected on top by the Post Time Picks from post four for trainer/driver Langille and owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille. T H Boomtown (Murphy) and Jk Last Chance (Arsenault) round out the top three picks in the closing dash.
