Qued Up Gets Ready For Shes A Great Lady

Qued Up

Without an elimination race this week, two-year-old pacing filly Qued Up tuned up for next Saturday's 2026 Shes A Great Lady final with an impressive effort over her stablemate and fellow finalist in qualifying action on Friday, Sept. 18 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Fresh off a 1:49.4 stakes-record effort last Saturday in the Champlain Stakes, Qued Up came back six days later for a tightener and delivered for her connections once again.

Content to sit pocket early, driver Louis-Philippe Roy allowed Mauritius and driver Trevor henry to scoot up the inside in the first eighth to take command of the qualifier. After fractions of :28.2 and :58.2, Roy tipped Qued Up to the outside as the leader hit the third quarter in 1:28.3. The sprint was on down the lane, and Qued Up uncorked a :25.4 final quarter to collar Mauritius with an eighth to go and trip the timer in 1:54.3. Mauritius held off D A Alljokesaside (Mark MacDonald) to finish second, 2-1/4 lengths back of the winner.

Qued Up (Cattlewash-Misqued) is trained by Kyle Fellows for owners Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, Ont., Blair Corbeil of Leduc, Alta., Windermere Stable LLC of New York, N.Y. and James Ross of Wingham, Ont. She sports a 2-1-1 summary with $97,550 in earnings, and will look to add to that bankroll in the $510,000 Shes A Great Lady (G1) final on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Final quarters faster than 26 seconds aren't necessarily uncommon, but those efforts are still impressive. The session of qualifiers on Friday, Sept. 18 featured four such performances — two in that Qued Up qualifier with the winner and D A Alljokesaside pacing home in sub-:26 speed.

A Clean Deal — owned by the same connections as Qued Up — closed in :25.3 for driver Doug McNair to best Daya (Jody Jamieson) by half a length with the mile timed in 1:52.2. Newcomer Im The Falcon N matched that final quarter time in a wire-to-wire 1:51.3 tally for for Team Cullen — driver Travis and trainer Jodie — and owners A1stable, Ron & Jodie Cullen of Dundas, Ont. and Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I.
