Dr. Ian Moore sent out the winners of both $30,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Hiawatha Horse Park.

Tenacious broke her maiden as Donnie Rankin steered the Bulldog Hanover-Lady Be Great filly to victory in the first split. She was fifth early as three horses sprinted abreast into the first turn, with Lyons Bulldog (Paul MacKenzie) breaking stride between horses and Lets Go Fishin (Scott Wray) sliding in second behind In This Moment (Lorne House) past a :26.2 quarter. The field condensed on the way to a :56.4 half, and Tenacious took the helmet of Twin B Girl Talk (Anthony Haughan) as that one advanced in the breeze to three-quarters in 1:24.4. Tenacious came off cover at the top of the lane with Bulldog Belle (Garrett Rooney) firing to the outside, and Tenacious was resolute in the drive to win by a half-length in 1:54.3. Bulldog Belle closed for second over Twin B Girl Talk.

The first win for Tenacious came in her eighth start. She has earned $36,540 for Tenacious Stable of Ennismore, Ont. The win payout was $16.40.

We Want It All delivered as the odds-on favourite from post eight in the second flight to stay perfect. The filly swooped to the lead coming off the first turn after racing on the rim through a :27 first panel, and Paul MacKenzie rated her to the half in :56.4. The Bulldog Hanover-Beach Gal miss turned up the heat to three-quarters in 1:24.1, preventing any challenge, and held off Lyons Flurry (Natasha Day) in the lane by a half-length in a 1:52.3 victory. Biscuitinthebasket (Anthony Haughan) was third.

We Want It All is three-for-three for owner Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. and has earned $31,000. She paid $3.80 to win.

Chip Happened, driven by Garrett Rooney, repeated in the $7,000 Preferred 3 Handicap Trot with a powerful parked-the-mile performance for trainer James McKague. He was left without a seat from post nine through the :27 first quarter so pressed on, making ground on leader Livinitlarge (Lorne House) through the half in :57.1 to edge ahead at three-quarters in 1:26.2. After battling through the turn, Chip Happened dispatched the former leader in the stretch and came home a three-quarter-length victor in 1:57.1. Monteverdi (Nick Steward) chased the winner home for second, with For All You Know (Dennis Duford) closing for show.

Chip Happened took his third consecutive win, moving to four-for-21 this year. The five-year-old Lookslikeachpndale-A Promise Made gelding is 17-for-71 lifetime with $120,273 banked for owner-breeders James McKague of Wroxter, Ont. and Jan McKague Weishar of Teeswater, Ont. He paid $3.20 to win.

Sportsline took his second Sarnia Preferred of the season with a tough showing in the $6,600 Preferred 3 Handicap Pace. Natasha Day put the 10-year-old stallion on the point with a :26.1 first quarter, but Sportsline was forced to quicken going to the half in :55.4 as Left Hand Lou (Anthony Hamlin) rushed up turning towards the backstretch. Those two battled nose-to-nose to three-quarters in 1:23.4 before Left Hand Lou surrendered, and Sportsline was in command down the lane for a two-length score in 1:52.3. Talldarklatte (Garrett Rooney) took the place spot, with Yoda Queen (Andy Moore) third.

Sportsline took a seasonal mark with his fifth 2026 win from 20 starts for trainer Pat Bissett and owner Wendy Armstrong of Clinton, Ont. The son of Sportswriter-Angel In Disguise has amassed 45 victories and $382,688 in earnings from 154 lifetime outings. He paid $11.60 to win.
