The connections of stakes winning trotter Go Dog Go have announced that the four-year-old will return to the racetrack as a gelding following surgery on Sept. 9, 2026.

Acting on the advice of its medical team, the connections of Go Dog Go made the decision to geld the trotter after he was diagnosed with a painful condition of ascending testicles. Co-owner Jon Wiesman explained that, essentially, "Go Dog Go felt like he was getting kicked in the groin every time he was in full stride.”

Following the surgery on Sept. 9 and upon testing of the removed testicles, Dr. Camilo Hernandez-Aviles of the Texas A&M University Theriogenology Clinic confirmed that the condition made Go Dog Go genetically sterile.

Although disappointed that the possibility of a stud career is now off the table for the son of Greenshoe-Primary Target, Wiesman and the connections are pleased that the surgery will improve Go Dog Go’s quality of life.

Owned by Wiesman Farms LLC of Middle River, Md. and Al Libfeld of Pickering, Ont., Go Dog Go sports a record of 10-3-6 in 32 starts with nearly $1 million in earnings and a mark of 1:49.3 taken as a three-year-old.
