The undefeated colt Stunning Speed won his seventh straight stakes race to begin his career as he bolted away through the stretch to win the first $12,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) division for two-year-old trotting males on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Trainer-driver Mike McGuigan tucked him in fourth while Maple Leaf Captain (Myles Heffernan Sr.) rocketed first into the turn before breaking stride and Hopthroughit (Clare MacDonald) pushed past I Dream Of Muscles (Jim Ripley) for command passing a :31 quarter. Stunning Speed tipped out on the second turn, swung to the front before a 1:00.3 half, and motored through three-quarters in 1:31 before kicking away to victory by 4-3/4 lengths in 2:00.4 over the track rated good. Hopthroughit was second-best, followed by Shoe Dog Speed (Paul Langille).

Stunning Speed built his bankroll to $43,779 for owners Little Pond Stables of Little Pond, P.E.I. and The Coles Stable of Charlottetown, P.E.I. The son of Muscle Through It-Stunning Look is three-for-three in the ATSS and has two wins in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes and victories in the Brian Andrew Memorial and Lady Slipper Stake. He paid $2.20 to win.

Sophomore Atlantic star Little Louis notched his seventh consecutive victory in a commanding effort in the $12,480 ATSS three-year-old colt trot, headlining a five-win night for driver Corey MacPherson. The E L Rocket-Go With Her gelding was never threatened as he put up :29.4, 1:00.2 and 1:30.2 panels and cruised clear by three lengths for a 1:59.2 victory. Hoponarocket (McGuigan) took a pocket ride for place, with Howmac Prime Time (Marc Campbell) another five lengths back in third.

Little Louis, defeated only once at two and three thus far, is seven-for-eight this season and 17-for-19 lifetime with $131,609 banked. Kuri White trains him for owner-breeder East Coast Captains of Cornwall, P.E.I. The win price was $2.10.

MacPherson also piloted Bonmati to a dominant victory in the $12,080 ATSS contest for three-year-old distaff trotters. The Blayne White trainee edged into command coming off the first turn, rattled off fractions of :29.3, 1:02.1 and 1:33.4 and opened up by 11-1/2 lengths in the final quarter to win in 2:03.2. Roseys El Girl (Ken Murphy) took second over Dusty Lane Margo (Jason Hughes).

Bonmati took her third win this year in six outings, bringing her career record to three-for-16 and her earnings to $61,839. White, of South Pinette, P.E.I., owns the daughter of E L Rocket-Glidetown. She returned $2.10.

MacPherson’s overnight wins came with Cinnamon Swirlz ($3), Fitness First ($3.40) and Hosskat ($22.60). He went five-for-12 on the 15-race program to bring his 2026 totals to 107 wins from 664 starts. The reinsman is third in the Charlottetown standings.

Howmac Limerick gave Blayne White a stakes double in the $12,500 ATSS rookie filly trot event. With favourite Rockin Through It (McGuigan) and second choice Early Speed (Myles Heffernan Sr.) off stride on the first turn in the four-horse field, Howmac Limerick reached up for command for Jason Hughes. She led unopposed to the quarter in :31, half in 1:02.4 and three-quarters in 1:34.1 and rolled home to victory by 2-1/2 lengths in 2:06.4. Mile Hill Emmylou (Gilles Barrieau) was second, with Early Speed third after catching the top two and moving into contention but breaking again in the stretch.

Howmac Limerick tallied her maiden win in her fourth start. The E L Rocket-Howmacs Pride offspring has earned $11,493 for Lacey White of South Pinette. The win payout was $19.50.

Muscles Dreamer captured the other rookie-colt-trot ATSS split for trainer-driver Adam Merner. Third through :30.4 and 1:01.4 early splits, Muscles Dreamer swept past the flagging pacesetter on the way to three-quarters in 1:34 and glided to victory by 1-1/2 lengths in 2:04.1. Manfredi (Marc Campbell) dashed home for place over Supreme Muscle (McGuigan).

The winning son of Muscle Through It-Rich Daydreams took his first win in six starts, building his bankroll to $14,678 for Hal Bevan of Charlottetown. His backers received $2.90 for a $2 wager.

Lady Cafe Au Lait’s reign over the open mare trot ranks extended for another week as the Earl Watts trainee picked up her 13th consecutive victory in the $5,550 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace. The Big Jim-Lady Latte distaff marched along the rim through the first turn to assume control at the quarter in :27.2, put up a :57.4 half and quickened as Brokeandoutofgas (Gilles Barrieau) arrived first-over at three-quarters in 1:27.2. Marc Campbell remained cool in the sulky, giving Lady Cafe Au Lait a few taps on the turn to wake her up, and the mare sprinted clear by 1-1/2 lengths to prevail in 1:54.4. Brokeandoutofgas was a sharp second, followed by Windemere Saddy (Ken Murphy).

Lady Cafe Au Lait is undefeated in 11 P.E.I. starts since arriving on the Island in the spring for owners Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. and Matt and David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I. She is 15-for-18 this year and 22-for-55 lifetime with $281,177 in earnings. The win price was $2.10.

After back-to-back wins by Fight Song, Buckhead Ridge struck back by seizing command and setting the tempo in the $8,000 Island Oceans Trot Series fourth leg for trotters three years old and up. Longshot Whole Nother (Colin Sheppard) led into the turn but gave little resistance to the two divisional giants making their moves down the backstretch as Buckhead Ridge took over for Marc Campbell at the :29 quarter, stretching away enough for Fight Song (Jason Hughes) to drop in behind him. Flemsteen (David Dowling), a main rival to Buckhead Ridge and Fight Song throughout the season, was forced into the first-over trip and pushed uncovered through :59.1 and 1:28.4 middle panels. He faded turning for home, and Fight Song made no impact from the pocket as Buckhead Ridge concluded the 1:57.1 victory with a 1-3/4-length margin. Whole Nother rallied from the shuffle to be third.

Buckhead Ridge and Fight Song have made up the exactor in their past seven matchups, with Buckhead Ridge up 4-3 in the head-to-head. The Landon Campbell-trained son of Nuncio-Tuonela is seven-for-14 overall this year with five place finishes and two thirds for owner Brady Doyle of Stratford. He has racked up 30 lifetime victories and $185,012 in earnings from 76 starts. His win price was $3.40.
