Jett Propelled ($5.40) gave her owner/trainer Robert Shahan a birthday present on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Harrington Raceway, a win in the $31,250 Mares Open Handicap Pace in 1:54.

Driven by Jason Thompson, Jett Propelled took back to last from the outside post eight early, with Fengshuiprosperity (Tony Morgan) leading the opening clip of :27.2. Jett Propelled joined the outer flow in sixth in the second stanza, while Laurel Court (Art Stafford Jr.) took command at the half in :55. Jett Propelled followed the three-wide move of Always B Merry (Allan Davis) on the backstretch, with the mares fanning out at three-quarters in 1:24. Always B Merry charged to the lead at the head of the lane, with Jett Propelled rolling off her back. Jett Propelled would outslug that rival by a head on the wire, with Scrivener Hanover (Troy Beyer) rallying for third.

The homebred five-year-old Roddys Bags Again-Jett Away mare secured her 11th victory of the season in 29 starts for Shahan, a Harrington, Delaware native. The victory pushed Jett Propelled's seasonal bankroll beyond $300,000 and career earnings past $800,000.

Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule at Harrington through Oct. 21.
