Telluride Hanover paced the fastest mile in the history of The Track On 2 as he chased down tempo-setter Wheres Papi in the $39,000 Ron Orr Pace for four-year-old horses and geldings on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Wheres Papi (Drew Campbell) fired to the front out of post two with :26.4 speed in the first panel while Outlaw Playmymovie (Mike Hennessy) dropped in second ahead of Telluride Hanover, driven by Phil Giesbrecht. The leader charged through the middle half, reaching the midway point in :54.2 and scooting away from the pocket-sitter going to three-quarters in 1:21.3. Telluride Hanover sidestepped the labouring Outlaw Playmymovie entering the far turn and set down to eat away at the deficit to Wheres Papi. The leader stayed game into deep-stretch but could not resist Telluride Hanover, who finished in :28.4 to secure the 1:51 score while 1-3/4 lengths clear of Wheres Papi. Sundash (Nathan Sobey) was third-best.

The clocking knocked a full second off the previous mark for an aged pacing gelding, which was co-owned by Hf Thegreatpumpkin, Whiplash Smile and Needabankloan. It also beat Kioti’s overall record by a tick.

Telluride Hanover became The Track On 2’s fastest-ever horse in his first career appearance at the Lacombe, Alta. oval. The Papi Rob Hanover-Thisorthat Hanover gelding tallied his third win this season in 10 outings for trainer Terry Kaufman and owner Terri Kaufman of Langley, B.C. Following the career-best effort, he is nine-for-35 lifetime and has earned $77,261. He paid $3.50 to win.

Mcmiracle captured the co-featured $38,800 Elizabeth Johnson Memorial Pace for four-year-old mares in a career-best 1:53.3. Trainer-driver Brandon Campbell procured a golden trip for the daughter of Mcwicked-Panagler, seating her in the pocket behind the battling pair of leader Hazels Hazelnut (Mike Hennessy) and parked-out Bewitched (Giesbrecht). The early hostilities created fractions of :26.4 and :54.4, and Mcmiracle remained in the two-hole as Bewitched faded approaching three-quarters in 1:23.3. Mcmiracle had the number of a fatigued Hazels Hazelnut in the lane but was forced to hustle by the gaining Jk Atm (Nathan Sobey) and held that foe off for the one-length score. Luau (Logan Gillis) rallied for show.

Mcmiracle, now five-for-20 this season, is owned by Campbell in conjunction with George Rogers and Raymond Henry of Calgary, Alta. She won for the sixth time while boosting her coffers to $55,695 in her 32nd lifetime outing. The win price was $10.
