Wholetthedogsout Fierce In Kawartha Grassroots

Wholetthedogsout

Wholetthedogsout scored his second straight swift Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Grassroots victory, posting the fastest mile of three $30,000 divisions of Leg 4B for three-year-old pacing males on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Kawartha Downs.

Jason Ryan played patient early with the 2-5 favourite, settling Wholetthedogsout in fifth from the inside post to a :26.3 quarter provided by Thirty Six Red (Paul Davies). Wholetthedogsout came off the cones turning towards the crowd and used the frontstretch to sprint to the lead before a :55 half. He motored to three-quarters in 1:22.3, stymieing the outer flow, and finished in :28.1 to resist Thirty Six Red for the 1-1/2-length victory in 1:50.4. Johnny Angel (Samuel Fillion) rolled wide from the back in the stretch for third.

Wholetthedogsout prevailed in 1:50.2 in his OSS Grassroots debut on Aug. 20 at Woodbine Mohawk Park as he left the OSS Gold level, then was third when in the thick of hot fractions in a race for Grassroots starters last out at the same track. The John Pentland-trained son of Bulldog Hanover-Family First has won three of 13 outings this season. He is now four-for-15 lifetime and has banked $85,132 for owner V M B Stable of Hamilton, Ont. The win price was $2.80.

Cheese Dreams ($18.40) sprinted home down the centre of the track to take the second Grassroots division with Samuel Fillion aboard for trainer Scott McNiven. The Betterthancheddar-Alphabet Queen gelding registered a 1:52.4 victory.

Tilthecowscomehome ($4.10) shifted off cover and grinded through the stretch for a 1:51.4 score in the third split. Paul MacKenzie steered the Carl Jamieson-trained son of Cattlewash-Dance Until Dawn.
