Bangor Raceway Offers New Overnight Series
Bangor Raceway will kick off its upcoming September and October meets with the formation of a new pacing series to honour the memory of longtime track executive and industry leader, Fred Nichols.
The series, written for pacers who are non-winners of $4,500 in their last four starts or with a Trackmaster rating of 83 or below, will feature two $8,000 USD elimination legs to be contested on Sept. 9 and 16, with a $20,000 USD (est.) final to be carded on Maine Sire Stakes Finals day, Oct. 17. There is no nomination fee, horses must race in both legs to be eligible for the final and the box for the first leg closes at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Bangor Raceway’s four-day September meeting will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 12, with post time at 3 p.m., will continue on Sunday, Sept. 13 with an early 12:10 p.m. post, and will conclude on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m.
Bangor Raceway will also play host to the $400,000 USD-plus Maine Sire Stakes Championships for sophomores on Saturday, Oct. 17 with post time slated for 3 p.m., and will continue racing on a three-day-per-week schedule through the first week in November.
