Harness Racing Resumes At Flamboro On Sunday
Live harness racing returns to Flamboro Downs this long weekend on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Flamboro Downs will host racing three nights a week on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through the remainder of the year, with the exception of the last two Thursdays in December (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve). Post time will be 6:25 p.m. each night.
Samuel Fillion will be looking to pick up where he left off at Flamboro in the spring as the track's 2026 leading driver and increase his edge over the defending driving champion, Austin Sorrie. Fillion drove 73 winners over the Dundas, Ont. half-mile oval from January through May and holds a five-win lead in the standings over Sorrie, who will be returning to his native province of Prince Edward Island for racing action this weekend. Fillion is listed to drive in seven of Sunday's 10 races, choosing 3-1 second choice Highland Delight in the featured $13,000 conditioned optional claiming pace, slated as race eight.
Gerard Demers holds a three-win lead in the 2026 trainer standings over Jodie Cullen (33-30) and both will have contenders in the featured distaff pace. Demers will send out four-year-old HP Josephine, who has consistently hit the board over the past month of racing at Grand River Raceway and Georgian Downs, while Cullen has entered homebred three-year-old filly Angels Amoung Us, already a nine-time winner this year including four earlier this year at Flamboro. This year's Forest City Pace runner-up Raptors Won is an also eligible in the race for Cullen.
Demers will also send out Queen Farroh in the evening's sixth race as the freshman pacing filly will try for her first win at a new venue following top four finishes in her last five starts in the Prospect Series. Flamboro will be the seventh different racetrack she has visited in her young career.
Cullen, who took the 2025 training title at Flamboro with 80 victories and leads all trainers in the nation for wins in 2026 with 189, has horses entered in three races on Sunday.
