Governor’s Plate finalist Doc Awesome is the 5-2 morning line favourite in the featured pace on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1 at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval has 15 dashes scheduled for a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time, with the $4,750 top class lining up in race 14.

Doc Awesome will command respect from post four with David Dowling driving for trainer Darla MacEachern, who co-owns the six-year-old son of All Bets Off with Allan Gaudet and Mike Cameron of Summerside, P.E.I. He missed by just a head in his last start on Aug. 25 at Summerside and took his mark of 1:52.2 earlier this summer in the Preferred class defeating the likes of millionaire Hellabalou and Miki Shan N.

His MacEachern stablemate Sauble Attack will leave from the outermost post five with Ken Murphy driving. Owned by Paul of Biggar of Tyne Valley, P.E.I., and Donald Callbeck of Summerside, P.E.I., the eight-year-old Bettors Delight gelding has won two of his last three starts at the Prince County oval.

American Risk is another top choice from post three with Keith Legge in the driver's seat for trainer George Rennison and owner Risky Biz Group of Truro, N.S. The 10-year-old son of American Ideal has won his last three starts, including a 1:54.4 victory at Summerside in his latest.

Middleton Terror will start from post two for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Luke Burke after winning three of five starts this season while Louie The Great has the rail for the Les Waite barn with Corey MacPherson listed to drive.

The "Backstretch Beat" sides with American Risk in the featured event: “American Risk has been red hot lately as the timeless wonder refuses to slow down. With 58 lifetime wins to his credit, he knows how to win and shows how much he likes it. Legge will have him hopping on the right foot at the start and we think he makes it into four straight tonight.”
