Yoda Queen Forceful In Hiawatha Preferred
Yoda Queen used her assigned post one to great effect for a gate-to-wire victory in the $6,600 Preferred 3 Handicap Pace at Hiawatha Horse Park on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The mare was in front as the wings folded, pocketed Mels Legacy (Nick Steward), and stomped out fractions of :26.2, :56.1 and 1:23.4 without seeing opposition. Andy Moore let her loose going for home, and Yoda Queen cruised to the finish a four-length winner in 1:52. Cheddar Bay (Robert Doyle) snagged second over Come On Artie (Scott Wray).
Yoda Queen has won two of her last three starts and is four-for-18 this year for owner Jamie Doig of Petrolia, Ont. Doig trains the six-year-old daughter of All Bets Off-J M Chicago, who has amassed 27 wins and $215,724 in earnings in 92 career outings. She paid $4.30 to win.
The card also included three Prospect Series Leg 4B divisions for sophomore trotters. Super Green ($14.60) grinded to a 1:58.2 score in the lone colt division with Robert Doyle at the lines. Lookstobemagic ($5.70) stopped the clock in 1:56.3 in the first filly split for Lorne House, and Silver Pride ($2.70) dominated the second for fillies with Garrett Rooney aboard in 1:57.
