Racing Cancelled Thursday At Harrah's Philadelphia
Heavy rains swept through southeast Pennsylvania on Thursday morning and into Thursday afternoon, with the forecast of more bad weather possibly in the offing for Aug. 27. The Harrah’s track crew laboured on the racing surface for over an hour past the 12:25 p.m. post time until it was decided, for the safety of all concerned, that the Thursday afternoon card would be cancelled.
Racing is scheduled to resume on Friday, Aug. 28 at 12:25 p.m.
Sunday's card of harness racing features the last preliminary leg of Pennsylvania-sired action for three-year-old trotting colts. First post time is set for 12:40 p.m.
Other upcoming events at Philly include the $1.4-million USD Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championship card for three-year-olds on Sunday, Sept. 6, and the 20th anniversary of the Harrah’s racetrack on a special 6 p.m. card on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the revival of the Colonial Trot, which began at Liberty Bell, an hour up the road.
