P L Ozzy Powers To Kawartha Preferred Score

P L Ozzy

P L Ozzy rumbled to the lead down the backside and was determined on the front end on the way to a 1-3/4-length victory in the $7,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at Kawartha Downs on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Nick Boyd glided the stallion out from post seven to land four-hole positioning behind a :26 opening panel set by Larry Karr (Gord Brown) over the sloppy track. Blinded By Delight (Ryan Guy) swooped from third to the front on the way to a :55.3 half, and P L Ozzy was next off the cones to begin his march turning for the backstretch. He was soon alongside Blinded By Delight and forced his way past that rival, clearing to the top before three-quarters in 1:23.2, and defended from that foe down the lane to prevail in 1:53. Magical Bet (Reg Gassien) finished third.

P L Ozzy, trained by Amanda Riley, has won all three of his career starts in the Kawartha Preferred, with previous victories in June of this year and August 2025. The eight-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Taylorlane Action is five-for-13 this season for Bryn Campbell of Port Hope, Ont. and Barry McClennan of Cavan, Ont. He is 37-for-128 lifetime with $414,032 in earnings. The win price was $3.60.
