D A Alljokesaside rolled off cover for a 1:51.4 maiden victory in the faster of two $30,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for two-year-old pacing males at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, Aug. 13.

The All Bets Off-Knee Slapper gelding was sixth going into the turn as a host of horses left to his outside, with Hp Follow Me (Jody Jamieson) leading the group to a :26.2 first quarter. After The Swooper (Louis-Philippe Roy) swept to control on the backstretch, D A Alljokesaside was the first to leave the pylons at the half in :55.2 and fished out Cheddarlucknxttime (James MacDonald) for cover heading into the far turn. D A Alljokesaside helmet rode through three-quarters in 1:24.2, sliding out at the top of the stretch to make headway. Held to marginal gains early in the lane, D A Alljokesaside picked up speed at the eighth pole and sprinted past The Swooper by 1-1/4 lengths with a :26.4 final quarter. Hp Follow Me completed the triactor.

D A Alljokesaside showed his closing speed in his debut on Aug. 6, rallying from seventh to second in the stretch with a :26.2 kicker. The Camilla Christoforou-trained gelding has earned $20,500 for owner Bernard Murphy of Milton, Ont. He paid $5.30 to win.

Cattletracks ($4.50) posted a comfortable 1:52 victory in the second division. The Cattlewash-Ballineen colt glided to the helm early, rebuffed an opponent on the homeward turn and sailed clear by three lengths down the lane for driver Louis-Philippe Roy and trainer Dr. Ian Moore. Wheels Up (Paul Davies) took the place spot, followed by Th Theo (James MacDonald).

With the Grade 3 Whenuwishuponastar requiring no eliminations prior to next Friday’s final, Mohawk Park hosted a $25,000 prep race for horses eligible to the stake. Lyons Cariemontana (Mark MacDonald), a 35-1 longshot going to the gate, established herself as a contender with a gate-to-wire 1:52.2 victory over Mericana Hanover (James MacDonald), with Rockin Jade Deo (Bob McClure) third. Ken Oliver trains Lyons Cariemontana, a daughter of Sweet Lou-Lyons Monatize.

The $12,000 third-leg Pop-Up Series divisions went to Acefortyfour Daisy ($5.70) in 1:53.1 and Ak Black Badger ($119.10) in 1:54.2. The series is for $8,000 claiming fillies and mares.
