Ake Svanstedt swept the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) divisions for three-year-old male trotters on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Saratoga Casino Hotel as he piloted his trainees Seven Grand and Read The Room to victories on the matinee card. 

Svanstedt got a pocket ride for Seven Grand, who raced as part of an entry with Secured in the $114,583 first split. Seven Grand drove past Highway Six (Jeff Gregory) at the quarter in :27, then yielded to that rival's re-take and occupied the garden seat through :57 and 1:26 middle panels. Seven Grand then marched up the inside in the stretch, reaching up to nab Highway Six by a head in 1:55.3. Twin B Seven Sins (Niko Karna) was third. 

Seven Grand, a Chapter Seven-My Abigail colt, improved to three-for-11 lifetime for owners Ake Svanstedt Inc., Little E LLC, Soderberg Bloodstock LLC and Van Camp Trotting Corp. Tuesday's win was his first this year in eight tries. The win price was $9.10.

Svanstedt completed the daily double sweep when his Read The Room took advantage of his inside post draw to cut the mile in the $112,500 second division. Read The Room had the front through :28.1, :57 and 1:25.3 fractions and was home 1-1/2 lengths clear of Titans Mischief (Matt Kakaley) in 1:54.4. Chapter Geo J (Jeff Gregory) finished third.

Read The Room, owned by Ake Svanstedt Inc. and Little E LLC along with B. Nasstrom Holding Inc. and Nils Munkhaugen, has three NYSS wins from eight overall starts this year. The son of Chapter Seven-Debra Hall is five-for-17 lifetime. He paid $3.38 to win.

The $27,778 New York Excelsior Series divisions for sophomore trotting colts and geldings went to Flex Up ($4.04), driven by Andy Miller and trained by Julie Miller, and Chapter Of Life ($2.44) for driver Leon Bailey and Andy Gardner.
