Easter Bb Equals Record In Buckeye Stallion Series
Easter Bb equalled the trotting track record at the Champaign County Fair in Urbana, Ohio to highlight the 11-race Buckeye Stallion Series card on Monday, Aug. 10.
Easter Bb, driven by Chris Page, won a $27,778 third-leg division of the Buckeye Stallion Series for trotting colts and geldings by nearly six lengths in 1:57.1, equalling the trotting track record set by Atlas Peak in 2019. The Creatine-Fear Her Makeup gelding led gate to wire, posting fractions of :30, :59.2 and 1:27 en route to the victory. Aiming To Please (Luke Hanners) and Smoking Mars (Kevin Detweiler) rounded out the top three.
Easter Bb has a pair of Buckeye wins this season as part of a six-for-seven record. He is trained by Phillip Knox for owner Brant Brower of Kevil, Kentucky.
Trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. sent out three Buckeye winners including the two-year-old male trotters Great Start (1:57.3) and Camsflashyaction (2:00.2). There were also five divisions of the second leg for freshman filly pacers on the card with Morgan winning one of those events courtesy of Ides Of April (1:57.4). Morgan's winners all were driven by Luke Hanners.
The other winners of the freshman male trotting divisions were: Inrange Anytime (Kevin Detweiler) in 2:00 for Leander Schwartz; Obsessed With Me (Brett Miller) in 1:59 for trainer Matthew Burkholder; and Lou Armstrong (Anthony MacDonald) in 1:58.2 for Jason McGinnis.
The other freshman filly pacing winners were: Ds Ava (Chris Lems) in 1:59.4 for Scott Cox; Cantcatchthelady (Jeff Nisonger) in 1:57.2 for Mark Winters; Our Grey Heart in 1:58 for trainer/driver Jeff Nisonger; and Tina Fire (Austin Hanners) in 1:56.4 for trainer Todd Luther.
The Buckeye Stallion Series continues on Saturday, Aug. 15) with the third leg for freshman colt pacers at Northfield Park.
