Undefeated Woodmere Rock It turned in a record-setting performance on Sunday, Aug. 9, becoming the fastest two-year-old pacer in Summerside Raceway history during an Atlantic Sires Stakes-laden program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Woodmere Rock It ($2.10) was a dominant winner of his $15,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" division for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings in race 11, stopping the clock in 1:54.3 for driver Adam Merner and trainer Jamie Smith.

The two-year-old son of Tobago Cays-Musette Mindale controlled the mile through fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:26.4 before firing home in :27.4 to win by 6-1/4 lengths. Much More Malice (Gilles Barrieau) was second with Woodmere Dougal (Corey MacPherson) third.

The 1:54.3 performance lowered the Summerside Raceway track record for two-year-old pacing geldings of 1:55.1, set by Woodmere Dougal on July 16, and was also the fastest mile ever recorded by a two-year-old pacer over the Prince County oval.

Perfect through his first five career starts, Woodmere Rock It is trained by Smith for owner Thestable Woodmererock It of Guelph, Ont.

Smith swept the Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" divisions for two-year-old male pacers with Kingstown ($6.60), who set a short-lived track record of his own knocking one-fifth of a second off Fern Hill General's two-year-old colt record winning in 1:56.3 in race nine with driver Jason Hughes. The Blood Money-Smilesplace colt prevailed from the pocket by a head over pacesetter Camco Kolton (MacPherson), with This Guns For Hire (Marc Campbell) a half-length back. Kirk MacRae of Ben Eoin, N.S. co-owns the first-time winner with Bert Ronahan of Charlottetown, P.E.I.

The winners of the $6,000 "B" divisions for two-year-old pacing males were: Saulsbrook Andy ($6.10) in 1:57.4 for MacPherson and trainer Chris MacKay; Littlebit Of Lovin ($2.60) in 1:57.4 for Paul Langille and trainer Earl Watts; Lyndale Mr Phil ($3) in 1:57.4 for Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester; John Stephen ($21.90) in 1:56.3 for Donald Gillis Jr. and trainer Rachael MacDonald; and Someplacesomewhere ($3.10) in 1:55 for trainer/driver Merner. John Stephen (Tobago Cays-Bold Amoretto) equalled the new two-year-old colt track record set three races prior by Kingstown before Someplacesomewhere (Somewhere Fancy-Marced For Terror) smashed that mark with his 13-1/2-length romp two races later.

The $20,140 Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies were won by Nauti Beach and Starship Daisy.

Nauti Beach ($5.90) rallied to capture race 13 in 1:57.3 for driver David Dowling and owner/trainer Ardon Mofford, who also bred the Somewhere Fancy-Sauble Bonnie filly. Imafancyfilly (Hughes) was second with Rosetown Aurora (MacPherson) third.

Starship Daisy ($2.60) won the other $20,140 "A" division in race 15 for Campbell, Watts and owner Francis Poirier of Havre-Aux-Maisons, Que. The daughter of Somewhere Fancy-Romance In Camelot stopped the clock in 1:57, winning by four lengths over Ys Fancy Speed (Merner) and Lady Of Malice (Langille).

The winners of the $6,000 "B" divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies were: Isle Impress You ($2.10) in 1:56.2 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Saul Lanigan; and Redland Abby ($65.80) in 1:59 for Hughes and trainer Stephen Quinn.

Little Louis ($2.10) dominated the $12,680 Atlantic Sires Stakes for three-year-old trotting colts in race 10. MacPherson sent the Kuri White trainee to the lead and never looked back, winning by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:58.3 over Hoponarocket (Barrieau) and West River Karuna (Ken MacDonald). The E L Rocket-Go With Her gelding, who was last season's Atlantic Breeders Crown divisional champion in his 10-for-11 rookie campaign, is now four-for-five as a sophomore for owner/breeder East Coast Captains of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Bonmati ($3) captured the $12,080 Atlantic Sires Stakes for three-year-old trotting fillies in race two for MacPherson and owner/trainer Blayne White. The daughter of E L Rocket-Glidetown controlled every fraction and stopped the clock in 2:00.3, winning over Roseys El Girl (Murphy) and Dusty Lane Margo (Hughes).

Rockin Through It ($11.50) captured the $12,500 Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old trotting fillies in race four for trainer/driver Mike McGuigan and P.E.I. owners Josh MacDonald of Little Pond and The Coles Stable of Charlottetown. The Muscle Through It-Rockadero filly prevailed in 2:03.2 by a quarter-length over Early Speed (Myles Heffernan Sr.) and Howmac Limerick (Hughes).

Another McGuigan-trained and reined two-year-old trotting winner for the same ownership group, Stunning Speed ($2.10) stayed perfect in his career as he took a $10,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes division for the colts in race six. Undefeated in his first four starts, the son of Muscle Through It-Stunning Look stopped the clock in 2:04, on top by 4-1/4-lengths, with Smokin Rocket (MacPherson) and Muscles Dreamer (Merner) second and third, respectively.

Shoe Dog Speed ($6.80) captured the other $10,000 division for two-year-old trotting colts in race eight for Langille and trainer Tammy Collings. Owned by Carl Bagnall of Stratford, P.E.I., the Muscle Through It-Kristins Victory colt rallied to win in 2:04 by a neck over Hopthroughit (Ken MacDonald), with Earl Speed (Hughes) back in third.

The 16-dash program offered $169,540 in purses and generated $162,608 in wagering.
