Trainer Vernon Beachy had a big night on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Eldorado Scioto Downs when he swept the $105,634 Ohio Sires Stakes for two-year-old colt trotters, with a new track record holder in the midst, and won a third of the $70,423 filly divisions.

Mind On My Moni, driven by Chris Lems, set a new divisional track record, tripping the beam in 1:53.3. Leaving strong off the gate from post nine, Mind On My Moni led through every call of :27.4, :57 and 1:25.1 before winning by a half length over a fast-closing Cool Julio (Tyler Smith). Pocket-sitter Walks The Fire (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) finished third.

The 1:53.3 winning time bested the previous track record for two-year-old trotting geldings, which was set in 2025 by Ready Russell (1:54).

Mind On My Moni is now undefeated in five lifetime starts with $147,627 earned. The gelded son by Ready For Moni out of the Angus Hall mare JJs Jordyn was a $29,166 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase.

Mind On My Moni, who went off at 7-1, paid $16 to win. 

Beachy came back three races later to win the other male trot division with another Ready For Moni gelding – Debt Free – in 1:54.2. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. piloted this one from post six and got away fifth while Satans Fury (Brett Miller) took the early lead going to the :28 quarter. Sigurd (Hugh Beatty) was parked and took over for a short time before Motor Earle (Mike Micallef) went first-up as the field headed towards the :56.4 half. Debt Free was second-over and sitting fourth by the 1:25.1 third quarter. Posting a :28.3 last quarter, Debt Free got up to win by three-quarters of a length over Iluvmymoni (David Miller) from the backfield. Motor Earle was third.

The win was the second in four lifetime starts for Debt Free, who now has $117,959 earned. Out of the Chapter Seven mare Feelsofree, Debt Free was a $31,944 Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale purchase. 

He paid $2.80 to win as the 2-5 bettors' choice.

Both Mind On My Moni and Debt Free are owned by 518 Group of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Gitup Racing of Garrettsville, Ohio, Ryan Smith of Dennison, Ohio and Todd's Auto of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Beachy’s filly winner was Made For More, also driven by Wrenn, in 1:54.1. Moni Line (David Miller) made the early front going to the :27.2 opening quarter, but Made For More was quickly out and on the move from third. Leading through the :57.3 half and three-quarters in 1:25.3, Made For More comfortably won under a hand drive by 2-1/2 lengths over Rose Run Cybill (Kurt Sugg). Miz Ella Paige (Sam Widger) was third.

Made For More, by Long Tom out of the Chapter Seven mare Obsessed Blue Chip, is a homebred for owner John Schlabach of Millersburg, Ohio. The Next Generation winner now has three wins in five lifetime starts and $215,946 earned.

She was the 4-5 favourite and paid $3.60 to win.

The first filly division went to trainer Steve Carter's Envious Queen and driver David Miller in 1:54.1. Leading at all points of call -- :28.1, :57.2 and 1:25.2 -- Envious Queen won by 2-1/2 lengths over Janets Big Star (Tyler Smith). Blue Ranger (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) was third. 

The win was the second in four lifetime starts for the filly by Long Tom out of the RC Royalty mare Royal Envy who now has $89,612 earned. Carter co-owns the $48,611 Ohio Selected Sale yearling with Hatfield Stables of Columbus, Ohio and Cass Gallagher of Sherwood, Arkansas.

The 1-2 favourite paid $3 to win.

The last of the filly divisions went to the Micah Miller trainee Secrets Ilia  and Brett Miller in 1:55. Steady Mind (David Miller) took the early lead just past the :28.1 quarter, Secrets Ilia had made the top. After taking the field to the :57.3 half and three-quarters in 1:26.3, Secrets Ilia opened up to win by 4-1/4 lengths. Take Her Home (Chris Page) was second, with Steady Mind third.

Secrets Ilia is now three-for-four with earnings totalling $114,436. Owned by Wayne Mast Jr. of Dundee, Ohio and Callam Racing of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the daughter of Long Tom out of the CJs Secret mare CJs Super Secret was a $38,889 Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale purchase.

As the overwhelming 1-9 favourite, Secrets Ilia returned just $2.10 to win.

Racing continues at Scioto Downs on Friday, Aug. 7 with a 16-race card starting at 5:25 p.m. Two divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for three-year-old filly pacers will go off as races seven and 11. There are also back-to-back Opens – the Fillies & Mares Open Pace with 10 entries and a nine-horse Open Trot.

The 91-day 2026 Eldorado Scioto Downs regular season runs through Saturday, Sept. 19. Races will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays starting in August. There will be a special holiday card on Labour Day instead of the Tuesday card that week and no live racing on Friday, Sept. 18 to accommodate horsepeople attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale. The track will then re-open for the Breeders Crown, with eliminations held on Oct. 16-17 and the finals on Oct. 23-24.
