Five In A Row For Beach Wiggle At Grand River

Beach Wiggle

Beach Wiggle extended her winning streak to five races on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Grand River Raceway, although it was the closest margin during the string.

Favoured heavily in a $9,600 fillies and mares claiming event for trainer Jodie Cullen and driver Travis Cullen, Beach Wiggle took control from the rail position when the gate folded. The 1-9 choice set fractions of :27.1, :58 and 1:26 with Kalico Seelster and Daryl Thiessen in tow.

Beach Wiggle began to gap the field, but Kalico Seelster was persistent. The mare surged late but came up a head short of the winner. Hp Joephine (Austin Sorrie) finished more than four lengths back in third in the race timed in 1:54.2.

With the victory, Beach Wiggle improved her streak to five, and also made it seven wins in her last eight starts, all at Grand River. The Sunshine Beach-Wiggle It J three-year-old filly now has an 11-1-7 record in 24 starts this season, with $78,636 in earnings. Unraced at two, Beach Wiggle is a homebred for Travis Cullen, Jodie Cullen and Ronald Cullen, all of Dundas, Ont.
