Daryl "Duke" Roberts, 63, of London, Ont., passed away on July 31, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Lovingly remembered by his children, Rachel and Dylan Roberts; and their mom, Rasa Baliunas; and his furry companion, Jake. He shared a close bond with his sister, Rhonda Kerr; her husband, Mark; and their sons, Harrison and Caiden. Fondly remembered by his brothers, Paul and Stephen; niece, Laura; and his nephew, Jake; and family. Predeceased by his parents, Glenn Roberts and Mary Roberta Roberts; his brother, Richard (Dick); and nephew, Joseph (Joey) Roberts.

Daryl spent his life dedicated to the sport of harness racing, training winners of 392 races and more than $3.3 million including the 2003 and 2004 Gold Cup & Saucer champion Sand Olls Dexter.

Duke’s favourite saying was: “Every day you wake up is a good day.” He lived his life like that to the fullest and always greeted you with his big smile.

In keeping with Daryl’s wishes, cremation will take place followed by a private family service and interment.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Verspeeten Cancer Centre (LHSC) for their compassionate care; to the care team at St. Elizabeth for the in-home support over the past few months; and to the palliative care team at LHSC Victoria campus for the exceptional support provided during Daryl’s final days.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Daryl "Duke" Roberts.
