Twin B Tuffenuff held off pocket-pursuer Fast Louis to win the Preferred Pace featured on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Driver Corey MacPherson sent the favoured Twin B Tuffenuff ($3.60) to the front from post two in the $6,250 top class and supplied fractions of :27.1, :55.4 and 1:25 before holding off a charging Fast Louie (David Dowling) by a neck in 1:53 flat. Doc Awesome (Adam Merner) completed the triactor.

Ron Matheson trains the winning 11-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-In The Pink for owner Patrick Morris of Charlottetown. Twin B Tuffenuff has hit the board in six of his 11 starts this year, winning twice, and now boasts 53 career victories with more than $845,000 in earnings.

MacPherson celebrated a driving triple on the program as he also visited the winner’s circle with Smilin With Lou ($4), trained by Bernard McCallum, and Silver Jake ($25.20), from the Devon Wallace stable.

Tuesday's card included the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series, presented by Red Shores, with a pair of $6,000 Grassroots divisions. The first split was won by Income Approach ($4.40) and driver Keith Legge as they dictated the pace before stopping the clock in 1:54 flat for owner/trainer Rachael MacDonald. DJ Mustang (Ken Murphy) finished three-quarters of a length behind in second with The Tulsa King (MacPherson) third.

In the second division, Good Omen ($7.70) and trainer/driver Paul Langille converted a pocket trip into victory to defeat Bettim Alive (Jaycob Sweet) by a neck in 1:55.2, with Howmac Exclusive (MacPherson) a quarter-length behind. Good Omen was a repeat winner in the series for owners Rosanne Langille and Ellie Driscoll of Lower Onslow, N.S.

Legge recorded three driving victories on the program, also scoring with American Risk ($3.90) and Tobins Gem ($10.60), both for trainer George Rennison.

Race seven was declared a No Contest after Woodmere Chella (Dana Sweet) and Pineapple Express (Bill MacKay Jr.) made contact en route to the opening quarter with Pineapple Express going down in the incident. Both horses and drivers were uninjured in the mishap.

Live harness racing continues on Thursday at 6 p.m. (ADT) at Red Shores Charlottetown.
