Logan Park, Canada’s Older Trotting Horse of the Year for the past three seasons, reached a career milestone by winning the $44,000 Open Trot on Sunday, Aug. 2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park for his 50th career victory.

Just like he has done in his last three Open starts, Logan Park took the lead after the opening quarter and never looked back. The Kyle Fellows trainee raced in the pocket through a :26.4 first panel then led the field of six through middle splits of :55.2 and 1:24 before powering home in :26.4 to post back-to-back 1:50.4 winning miles over Emoticon Legacy -- this one by a margin of nearly five lengths over a "good" track. Emoticon Legacy closed from the backfield for driver Bob McClure and beat out stablemate Private Access (James MacDonald) in a place photo.

Logan Park paid $3.50 to win as the 3-5 bettors' choice.

The eight-year-old Archangel-Rite Outa The Park gelding is now six-for-nine this year season, adding $130,056 to his $2 million+ bankroll. His ownership group includes Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Ont., Reg Higgs of Blenheim, Ont., and Arpad Szabo of Bradford, Ont.

Undefeated two-year-old trotter Da Trixter lowered his lifetime mark to 1:55.3 during the rainy evening while improving to three-for-three in the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Series. The current Grassroots division leader is campaigned by the father and son, training and driving team of Bob and Scott Young. 

Leaving from post seven just outside of the favoured Great White North (Bob McClure) in their $30,000 Grassroots division, Da Trixter landed in the pocket behind that maiden rival who was looking to breakthrough after three straight runner-up finishes. Great White North led the field through fractions of :28, :56.4 and 1:26.3 but had to settle for second once again as Da Trixter trotted past him in the stretch, clocking a :28.3 final frame.

Da Trixter paid $5.30 to win as the 8-5 second choice. Great White North held off Stormont Maroon (Louis-Philippe Roy) in the race for place two lengths behind the winner.

Bob Young shares ownership of the perfect Trixton-Da Miracle gelding with Lindsey Turner of Georgetown, Ont., breeder Glengate Farms of Erin, Ont., and Haskell Pickup of Guelph, Ont. A $16,000 yearling purchase from last fall's London Classic Sale, Da Trixter has earned $45,000 in his first three successful starts.

First-time winners The Great Gazoo and Spiritual Guidance took the other two Grassroots divisions for freshman male trotters.

The Great Gazoo ($7.60) accelerated off the gate from post nine to take the lead at the quarter pole for driver Mark MacDonald then drew away from his competition, winning by more than six lengths in 1:56.3. Save You A Seat (Travis Henry) chased in second and Clarky (Paul Davis) rounded out the top three. Shawn Steacy trains The Great Gazoo, who just missed by a head in his career debut in the Grassroots on July 24. The Green Manalishi S-Kinda Crazy Lindy colt is owned by Hudson Standardbred Stable of Hudson, Que., Dan Mogridge of Coldwater, Ont., David Reid of Sydenham, Ont., and Landmark 19 Racing Stable of Lansdowne, Ont.

After two unsuccessful Gold Series starts, Spiritual Guidance ($15) made it into the win column as he swept to command from an early four-hole on the way to the half and opened up an insurmountable lead heading for home in rein to Doug McNair while the pocket-sitter broke stride. The favoured Steacy-trained Graceful King (Mark MacDonald), a previous Grassroots winner, closed wide from midfield but could couldn't reach the runaway leader, who hit the wire in 1:57.3 with more than three lengths to spare. Sundae Royale (James MacDonald) was third. McNair's father Gregg trains the victorious Muscle Mass-Keep The Spirit colt for owners Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont.

In regular overnight racing action, D A Lets Boogie ($3.70) extended his win streak to five in a $16,000 Pop-Up Series event, looping around early leaver Light The Torch (Louis-Philippe Roy) past the three-eighths mark and fending off that rival later in the mile. Driven by Bob McClure and trained by Luc Blais, the four-year-old-Dancin Lou-Sports Beauty gelding won by one length in 1:51.3 after four straight wins at Grand River Raceway. He is owned by Kozen Farms of La Prairie, Que.

There were four $16,000 divisions in the first leg of this conditioned Pop-Up Series for male pacers, carded for starters for a purse of $10,000 or less in their last three, with winners over $40,000 in 2026 not eligible. 

Bob McClure also teamed up with Drinkin Buddy ($7.20) to win another Pop-Up division in 1:52 winner for trainer Heather Pickett. The other divisions went to Hazee Coast ($8.50), a 1:52.4 winner driven by Tyler Borth for the Mike Horner stable, and Up Joeys Credit ($25.60), who won in 1:52.1 with Jason Ryan in the bike for trainer Jacob Roberts.
