The 'glamour boy' division of the New York Sire Stakes, three-year-old pacing colts and geldings, visits Monticello Raceway on Monday, Aug. 3. The seven-horse NYSS dash has a purse of $119,700 USD. The elite group is headed by the top two point leaders in the division, Fragment and Knoxville.

Monday's card also features two $20,000 USD divisions of the Excelsior Series. First post time for the nine-race card is 12:10 p.m.

The NYSS race is carded as the eighth race, with post five starter Fragment installed as the 4-5 morning line choice. The talented and well-bred son of Huntsville–The Show Returns is trained by Per Engblom for owners Engblom Farm LLC of Wrightstown, N.J., Doug Sipple of Georgetown, De. and Peaceful Acre Farm of Litiitz, Pa.  The sophomore sidewinder sports two NYSS scores thus far in 2026 with wins at Tioga Downs (in 1:49.3) and Saratoga (in 1:51.4, just missing the track record) while also winning the 1-1/4 mile MGM Grand Messenger Stakes at Yonkers in 2:21.4, defeating recent Adios winner Al Papi. He is the seventh leading purse money earner for three-year-old pacers this season with $328,724 in just four starts. Fragment will be driven by Jason Bartlett, who already has driven winners to two new track records this season at the Mighty M.

Directly to his outside in post six is Knoxville (3-1), who will be driven for the first time by Brent Holland. The son of Huntsville-Lets Fall In Love is trained by Ray Schnittker. He is the division's point leader, with Sire Stakes wins at Buffalo and Vernon Downs — where he took his 1:50.3 lifetime mark — while tacking on an Excelsior win at Goshen. He defeated Fragment earlier in the year in that NYSS win at Buffalo.

The track record for three-year-old male pacers is 1:52.1, set by Kenneth J in 2007.
