Lady Devine converted a pocket trip into victory in the $4,750 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace on Thursday, July 30 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Stablemate Sweet Molly (Ken Murphy) controlled the fractions of :28.4, :57.4 and 1:27.3 before Lady Devine emerged from the two-hole and charged past her to prevail by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.1. Saulsbrook Pika (Corey MacPherson) finished third.

David Dowling guided Lady Devine ($4.50) to the winner’s circle for trainer Jennifer Doyle, who co-owns the mare with Max Webster Stable of Inverness, N.S. The five-year-old daughter of Heston Blue Chip-Booty Call is now five-for-15 on the season and 27-for-96 lifetime with $86,269 in earnings.

West River Jet ($2.20) was the fastest trotter of the evening with a 1:57.4 score in the 13th-race conditioned dash for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault. Oceanview Nikki (Mike McGuigan) was second with Hallysgurl (Gilles Barrieau) third. Arsenault recorded another victory aboard Watch Me Shake It ($5.60), his trainee, in Race 8. The mare made every call a winning one in 1:58.4.

Dee ($3.70) won the ninth-race conditioned pace for fillies and mares in 1:55.4 as part of a triple for driver Marc Campbell. Ashley Gamester trains Dee as well as first-race winner Acefortyfour Dome ($3.60), whom Campbell steered to victory in 1:57.3. Campbell’s other win was with Mile Hill Waylon ($11.20), who won the second-race trot in 2:02.3 for trainer Paul Morrison.

Ken Murphy had three driving victories on the program. The Harrington, P.E.I.-based driver won the fifth race aboard Mattnificent Rose ($2.40) in 1:58.2 for trainer Luke Burke, then captured Race 10 with Isle Impress You ($3) in 1:59.2 for trainer Saul Lanigan. Murphy and Lanigan returned to the winner’s circle in the 15th-race finale with Windemere Dinozzi ($10.50), who stopped the clock in 1:58.3.
