Sweet Molly Headlines Thursday Red Shores Preferred

Sweet Molly

Sweet Molly will look to build off a pacesetting place finish last out as she heads the Thursday, July 30 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 15-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m., with the $4,750 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace lining up in Race 14.

Sweet Molly is the 5-2 morning-line favourite from post five with Ken Murphy in the seat for trainer Jennifer Doyle. The five-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Cheyenne Molly was a hard-fought second in her latest. My Happy Place leaves from post six as the 3-1 second choice with Gilles Barrieau driving for trainer Ron Matheson. The four-year-old daughter of Shadow Play-Smilesplace was third behind Sweet Molly in a mile individually timed in 1:54.4 last out. Lady Devine (7-2) will guard the rail for driver David Dowling and trainer Doyle as the five-year-old daughter of Heston Blue Chip-Booty Call aims for her fifth win of the season. The field also includes Jm Sportsfan (PP2, Steven Shepherd, 8-1), Starship Beauty (PP3, Paul Langille, 4-1) and Saulsbrook Pika (PP4, Corey MacPherson, 6-1).

The Post Time Picks takes Sweet Molly on top.

“Sweet Molly has been slugging it out with the best mares in Atlantic Canada and has not looked out of place. She dipped to this level last week and almost went gate-to-wire on top but lost by head at the finish. She moves out a few spots on the gate but her form has been excellent, so I'm betting she goes all the way tonight.”

The $4,450 top conditioned trot takes to the track in the 13th race with West River Jet selected as the top morning-line choice at 5-2 from post six. Kenny Arsenault trains and drives the 2025 Atlantic Champion. His main rivals are Desert Hayz (Murphy, 7-2) from post eight and Oceanview Nikki (Mike McGuigan, 3-1) with post five.

Race 5 is the CMP We Engineer Food Safety Pace with Mattnificent Rose (Murphy) favoured at 5-2 from post six for trainer Luke Burke..
