Mohawk Open Triple For Logan Park
Logan Park racked up his third straight Open Trot victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park while fending off a newcomer to the scene, 2025 O’Brien Award winner Emoticon Legacy, on Sunday, July 26.
Logan Park, for the second week in a row, used a backstretch pocket-pop to make the front in the $44,000 feature, this time doing so past a :27.1 opening panel. He circled P L Spencer (James MacDonald) going to a :55.2 half and maintained that firm tempo to three-quarters in 1:23.3 as Emoticon Legacy (Bob McClure), in his four-year-old debut, mobilized from fourth and caught cover from Gaines Hanover (Mark MacDonald). Logan Park trotted for home with Gaines Hanover and P L Spencer unable to make ground while Emoticon Legacy wound up from the backfield. The latter closed in :26.4 but was too late to trouble Logan Park, who crossed the line a one-length winner in 1:50.4. Emoticon Legacy motored for second, with Gaines Hanover holding off P L Spencer for third.
Logan Park, Canada’s Older Trotting Horse of the Year for the past three seasons, has already put together a stellar eight-year-old campaign with five Mohawk Open wins from his eight 2026 starts. The Kyle Fellows-trained son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park is now 49-for-110 lifetime with $2,405,405 in earnings for Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Ont., Reg Higgs of Blenheim, Ont. and Arpad Szabo of Bradford, Ont. He paid $2.80 to win.
