Fresh off winning seven races in Ontario-sired stakes action on Sunday, July 19, Jody Jamieson piloted both victors in the $100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold second-leg divisions for two-year-old trotting fillies on Thursday, July 23 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Jamieson also shares ownership of both Gold winners – Treasure King and Major Contender – with his father, Hall of Famer Carl Jamieson, who also trains both King Of The North fillies.

In the first division, Treasure King posted a 30-1 upset, defeating first-leg winner Queen Of Bs by a neck.

The longest shot in the field of eight, Treasure King (out of Vanity Treasure) sat patiently near the back of the pack as Stormont Magenta (Mark MacDonald) led the group through fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:26.2 with Queen Of Bs (James MacDonald) on her back. In the stretch, Jamieson had Treasure King on the move, and the filly passed three horses and came home in :28 to break her maiden in 1:55.2 in her third lifetime start. Northern Song (Bob McClure) was third.

On July 5, in her first Gold test of the year, Treasure King was fifth in the division won by Verily.

“She wasn't quite as good her first start,” Jody told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis. “She was off her feed that week, but had no temperature, so we were able to race her. She was fifth in that first Gold, and I knew she had more to offer. I knew that if I got a trip like this, and she came off a helmet, she always tries hard. She never really has been tired in a race.”

Treasure King, bred by Christ Beiler of Gordonville, Pa., was purchased by the Jamiesons for $59,155 at the 2025 Harrisburg sale.

“Dad and I are our only partners on her,” said Jody, who co-owns the filly via 1140545 Ontario Ltd. “We couldn't find a partner for her all winter, but, here we are in the winner’s circle for a Gold. So, we're pretty happy.”

The trotter is now 1-1-0 in three starts and has earnings of $58,134. Treasure King paid $62.50 to win.

In the second division, 8-5 favourite Major Contender raced sixth through the early going, crept up to third by the head of the lane and swept past Cold Breeze (James MacDonald) and Twin B Kingsley (Henry) in the stretch to win by three lengths over another closer, Song From Heaven (Tyler Borth), in 1:54.4. Twin B Kingsley led the field of eight through fractions of :27.3, :57.1 and 1:26 before breaking stride down the lane. Simea (McClure), who was in the hunt most of the mile, was third.

“[Major Contender] has been a perfect filly from the day she came home,” Jody said. “The people that sold her to us, I called them and asked them if she was maybe broke before they put her through the sale because she was so smart, and she's been so smart. I think that's a trait with really good horses is that they're really smart. I'm really hoping that she's a good horse.”

Major Contender broke her maiden in her second career start. She now sports earnings of $66,008 and a record of 1-1-0 for Carl Jamieson of Puslinch, Ont., Jody's 1140545 Ontario Ltd. of Guelph, Ont., Dave Lemon of London, Ont. and George Harrison of Lancashire, England. She paid $5.20.

Out of Major Muscle, Major Contender was bred by Princeton Farms Inc. of Princeton, Ont., Mark Etsell of Rockwood, Ont., Robert Newton of Walkerton, Ont. and Chuan Tan of Cambridge, Ont. The trotter was purchased for $154,930 U.S. at the 2025 Harrisburg sale.

“We all want to give a shout out to Dave and Mary Lemon who are here tonight,” Jody said. “[My dad and I] didn't have any partners on this horse, and we paid $110,000 U.S., which was a big bite for us. We usually don't do that, but Dave and Mary jumped in along with George Harrison, with dad and I to be partners. So, we really appreciate them, we're paying that back — the filly's going to pay it back, and so far she's shown that she's going to.”

There were also four $30,000 OSS Grassroots divisions for two-year-old trotting fillies on Thursday’s card.

Houstonweavaproblm ($7) backed up her leg-one win with an identical clocking in victory, taking the first split in 1:57. Tyler Jones drove the daughter of Muscle Mass-Melanie G for trainer Mark Etsell and owners Duncan Brewer of Waterdown, Ont., Randell Urquhart of Hamilton, Ont. and Steve Deady of Paris, Ont. Th Francesca (Mark MacDonald) finished second, followed by Thankful In North (James MacDonald).

Green Silverado ($2.70) improved to two-for-two with another Grassroots win in 1:57.3 with James MacDonald aboard for trainer Matthew Trelford, who shares ownership of the Green Manalishi S-Little Red Chev filly with Roy Trelford of Mildmay, Ont. Georgia Bluffs (Doug McNair) was second, with Sumluckylady (Mark MacDonald) third.

Dromoland Castle ($46.20), a full sister to O'Brien Award winner Adare Castle, broke her maiden in 1:57.3 in the third division. Mark Etsell trains and drives the Muscle Mass-Pacific Edge filly and co-owns her with Harbor Racing Stable LLC of Uxbridge, Ont. Tit For Tat (Scott Young) closed for second over Spoiled To A T (Mark MacDonald).

Elusive Station ($22.20) won the final division in her debut as the daughter of King Of The North-Elegant Mermaid stopped the clock in 1:57.3 for owner James Crawford of Erieville, N.Y., trainer Chantal Mitchell and driver Louis-Philippe Roy. Dreamtrade (Bob McClure) took second, with Lady Jag (James MacDonald) third.
