PEISBA To Host Breeders Symposium
The Prince Edward Island Standardbred Breeders Association (PEISBA) invites Prince Edward Island breeders to attend the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeders Symposium, taking place on Monday, July 27 at the P.E.I. Farm Centre at 420 University Avenue, Charlottetown. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will run from 7-9 p.m.
The event will feature guest speakers Jesse Belore of Princeton Farms, Pat Woods of Winbak Farm of Canada and Dr. Martha Mellish of the Atlantic Veterinary College. These speakers will share their expertise on breeding/foaling practices, nutritional management, pasture management, yearling preparation and stallion/mare selection.
From Tuesday, July 28 to Saturday, Aug. 1, Belore and Woods will offer farm visits to identify strengths of private operations, offer constructive feedback and practical recommendations for best practices to assist in the production of high-quality yearlings. Interested breeders will be asked to sign up in advance for visits so an appointment time can be scheduled.
This is a free event and breeders who wish to attend and/or sign up for private farm visits are asked to complete the form at the following link by July 24 at 5 p.m.: P.E.I. Standardbred Breeders Symposium Registration.
