Northfield Park hosted six $70,423 divisions of the second leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes for freshman trotters — three each for fillies and colts — on Monday, July 20.

The three colt divisions were all won by sons of Ready For Moni. Royal Moni (dam Shes All In), driven by Trevor Smith, recorded the fastest mile among that trio, winning the first division in a new lifetime mark of 1:56.2. Way Too Easy (David Miller) led the field at the first three calls in :28.4, :59 and 1:28 before fading down the stretch. Royal Moni took the lead entering the stretch after advancing from third during the third panel and won by 2-3/4 lengths. Debt Free (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) finished second followed by Cool Julio (Tyler Smith) in third. 

Royal Moni is trained by Dalton Walls, who co-owns the gelding with Miller Racing Stable of Greenville, Ohio and Edward Marrinan of Dayton, Ohio. Royal Moni now has two wins and one second with $61,388 in earnings in three seasonal starts.

Iluvmymoni (dam Iluvwineandroses), driven by Kurt Sugg, won the second division in 1:57.1 and is now two-for-two after taking a victory in the opening leg of the OHSS at Eldorado Scioto Downs on July 11. In Monday's leg, he advanced from an early four-hole and took the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:28.3 then won by 2-1/4 lengths after kicking home in :28.3. Rolln In Moni (Chris Lems) and Walks The Fire (Wrenn Jr.) rounded out the top three.

Trained by Steve Carter for owners Brixton Medical Inc. of Matawan, New Jersey and Hatfield Stables of Columbus, Ohio, Iluvmymoni boosted his bankroll to $70,422.

The third division of colts was topped by undefeated Mind On My Moni (dam JJs Jordyn), driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr. in the 1:58.2 winning mile. The gelding was on top at every call through with fractions clocked in :30.1, 1:00.4 and 1:29.4 en route to his third win and a bolstered bankroll of $55,725. Motor Earle (Mike Micallef) finished three-quarters of a length behind in second followed by Jet Range (Brett Miller) back in third.

The Vernon Beachy trainee is owned by 518 Group of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Gitup Racing of Garrettsville, Ohio, Ryan Smith of Dennison, Ohio and Todd’s Auto of Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania. 

Kissme Ifyoucan and Rose Run Cybill are now two-for-two in the OHSS this year after scoring victories in Monday’s second leg.

Kissme Ifyoucan, driven by Austin Hanners, recorded the fastest time among the three divisions of fillies, winning the third division in 1:57. The In Range-I Gotta Feelin filly took the lead at the :59.1 halfway mark and led the rest of the way en route to the 2-3/4-length score. Early leader Miz Ella Paige (Sam Widger) and Sweet Stevie (Sugg) rounded out the top three.

Trained by Todd Luther for owner Greg Luther Racing of Blacklick, Ohio, the filly now has three wins and one second with $152,162 in earnings in just four seasonal starts. She recorded her lifetime mark of 1:56 in her first-leg win at Scioto on July 11. 

Rose Run Cybill, driven by Kurt Sugg and trained by Daren Harvey, won the first filly division in 1:58.3. The daughter of On Range-Rose Run Timeless led gate to wire with fractions of :29.4, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1 and won by a head over pocket-pursuer Made For More (Wrenn Jr.), with Anayawaka (Trevor Smith) in third.

Rose Run Cybill is owned by Wayne Mast Jr. of Dundee, Ohio and Callam Racing of Chagrin Fall, Ohio. She earned a victory in the first leg of the OHSS in 1:57 and now has $70,422 from her first two starts.

Secrets Ilia, also owned by Mast Jr. and Callam Racing, won the second filly division in 1:57.1 for her first career victory in two attempts. Driven by Brett Miller, she advanced from third during the third panel and passed On A Clear Day (Lems) for the lead at the 1:28.2 three-quarter pole before going on to win by 6-1/4 lengths off a :28.4 final frame. Moni Line (Sugg) took second and Kikionamission (Wrenn Jr.) finished third over On A Clear Day. 

Secrets Ilia is a filly by Long Tom out of CJs Super Secret. Micah Miller trains the $40,845 career winner.

Celebrating its 50th season, the Ohio Sires Stakes continues on Friday, July 24 with the second leg for freshman filly pacers at Scioto.
