Alritealritealrite Wires Field In Northside Feature
Alritealritealrite was more than alright on the engine, wiring the field in the $1,600 Winners Over feature pace on the Monday (July 20) card at Northside Downs.
Driver Kevin Bailey had the 1-9 favourite in the bit off the wings from the rail, spurting out to a two length lead at the opening quarter in :29.4 while Ranked Contender (driven by Ardon Mofford) chased in second. The tempo slowed in the second stanza, with Kountry Diamond (Lawrence Snow) the first to move from third and apply pressure to Alritealritealrite to the half in 1:00.3. Alritealritealrite countered on the backstretch, racing 1-3/4 lengths clear at the three-quarter pole in 1:30.3 as Rock And Twist (John Hawco) tipped three-wide and made it a three-across battle for second.
The pocket-sitting Ranked Contender got the better of the battle for second, cutting the corner before taking aim at Alritealritealrite as the leaders spun for home. Under confident Bailey handling, Alritealritealrite was able to fend off that challenger, holding him at bay by three parts of a length in a 1:58.4 victory. Kountry Diamond sustained his bid for third, 6-1/4 lengths back of the winner.
It was the fifth victory in 14 seasonal outings for the Heather Hawkins trained Alritealritealrite. The five-year-old stallion son of Lazarus N-Hot Spot Hanover is owned by Terri Morrison of Marion Bridge, N.S., Irwin Claener of New Waterford, N.S., Kirk Macrae of Ben Eoin, N.S., and Angus Maceachern of Howie Center, N.S. Alritealritealrite has now banked $194,418 following his eighth career victory.
