Ontario Tracks Cancel Saturday Cards; OSS Races Rescheduled

Harness racing in Ontario, at Woodbine Mohawk Park

Woodbine Mohawk Park, Hiawatha Horse Park and Georgian Downs cancelled live racing for Saturday, July 18 due to the continued high-risk air quality conditions as a result of the ongoing wildfires.

Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario regulations prevent live racing from proceeding when the local Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) is in the high-risk range (7 or higher).

The two $100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold divisions for two-year-old pacing males at Mohawk have been rescheduled as non-wagering races before the Sunday card. Both divisions will be raced as initially drawn, with the first set to go at 5 p.m. and the second to be raced shortly after. Post time for the 12-race pari-mutuel program is 6:30 p.m.

Hiawatha's Ontario-sired events, three OSS Grassroots splits and two Prospect Series contests for sophomore male pacers, will now be raced as originally drawn during the track's next card on Saturday, July 25. First post is set for 6:30 p.m.

Georgian will host its next card on Tuesday, July 21 with a first post time of 7:15 p.m.
